On Sunday February 9th, the Dutch agrifoodTEF partner participated with two keynote speeches in the international IoP (Internet of Plants) Symposium "Disseminating agricultural data-sharing platforms and effective data usage methods for farmers" at Kochi University Japan. The keynote of Jos Verstegen (in collaboration with Can Atik, LLM - PhD and Marc-Jeroen Bogaardt), all from Wageningen Social & Economic Research, entitled "Data Sharing under the EU Data Act: Principles, actors & translation into practice" detailed on the legal aspects of data sharing, with a special focus on the EU Data Act. This Data Act facilitates trust building by putting users (e.g., farmers) in control of their data, which is an essential condition for data sharing. Further, the recently developed Dutch "Agrifood Code of Conduct for Data Use" which customizes the EU Data Act to the agricultural context, was presented. The predominantly Asian audience concluded that, with respect to data governance, they have work to do as well. The legal aspects are part of the ELSA LAB TEF service https://lnkd.in/eAAf9yRF

On Sunday February 9th, the Dutch agrifoodTEF partner participated with two keynote speeches in the international IoP (Internet of Plants) Symposium "Disseminating agricultural data-sharing platforms and effective data usage methods for farmers" at Kochi University Japan. The keynote of Joseph Peller from the Wageningen University & Research Vision and Robotics group entitled "Technology adoption in Agriculture: How to encourage data-driven work and Pitfalls to avoid" provided the lessons learnt from three use cases on 1) providing information to growers using AR Glasses (AR Smart Horticulture), 2) supporting plant variety testing with a phenotyping app (EU Horizon Invite), and 3) improving labor conditions in greenhouse horticulture using cooling vests (Joyride Horticulture). The user-acceptance-testing approach to validating and testing high-tech solutions was very well received by the audience.
