AI Hub in Generative Models reposted this
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister outlined the UK’s bold AI Action Plan during a visit to UCL. This moment reinforces the vital role of universities in shaping the future of artificial intelligence. At UCL Computer Science, we are proud to lead the way in this field, driving cutting-edge innovation through initiatives such as: ◼️ The UCL Centre for Artificial Intelligence, home to the Generative AI Hub and part of an £80m UK Government investment in AI research. ◼️ The Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub), creating technologies that empower people with disabilities and promote global accessibility. ◼️ The Hawkes Institute for Healthcare Technologies, hosting the £10m OASIS Hub and linking computational innovation with NHS needs through the UCLH Biomedical Research Centre. ◼️ Ground-breaking AI research, including a world-first AI foundation model for eye care, which is set to transform global efforts to prevent blindness. ◼️ Education that prepares tomorrow’s AI leaders, with undergraduate and postgraduate programmes spanning machine learning and AI, robotics, data engineering, sustainable development, and healthcare applications. ◼️ Strong industry collaborations, focused on tackling gender bias in AI and making the tech sector more female friendly. ◼️ Leading entrepreneurial and deeptech research and innovation opportunities, such as the UCL Venturer Programme, which enables companies to work with entrepreneurial researchers to solve pressing challenges and co-create spinouts. ◼️ AI spinouts and companies co-founded by UCL Computer Science academics, including successes like Synthesia, Bloomsbury AI, and Odin Vision, which have contributed to a combined valuation exceeding $1.4 billion. ◼️ The UCL Computer Science Tech for Good AI Labs at Malet Place (1.21 and 1.05), leading labs for AI PC Research & Development projects in an educational institution in Europe. We’re excited to see the UK prioritising this vital area and look forward to helping shape this vision. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation UCL AI Centre David Barber Global Disability Innovation Hub Professor Dean Mohamedally Tim B.
