A moving night as the aviation industry turned out, along with our Airlines Confidential Podcast crew led by Scott McCartney & Charlie Shapiro posthumously honoring our brilliant friend B. Ben Baldanza with the Washington Aero Club National Aviation Association Wright Brothers Trophy. The very prestigious trophy is awarded annually to a living American for “significant public service of enduring value to aviation in the United States.” Ben’s contributions to the industry as a brilliant executive, changemaker, and teacher are well known. But it’s the humble and hilarious family man and friend who we miss the most. Sadly, though he knew he was the awarded the honor, he didn’t live to receive it. Ben’s amazing son Enzo and wife Marcia Baldanza, Ed.D. wrote Ben’s acceptance speech with him, delivered it on his behalf and received the award with such grace.
