IT MIGHT BE THURSDAY, BUT IT IS STILL HUMPDAY PODCAST DAY As third quarter 2024 earnings season comes to an end, it was more of the same - or was it? #SunCountryAirlines reported and it was good and is the only airline stock with a pre-market change that is the color green. #Allegiant reported and disappointed and the stock is getting slapped around this morning before the market opens. #SpiritAirlines announces more pilot furloughs. #FrontierAirlines is a management team that sees the industry much differently than what is taught in most undergraduate business schools. #UnitedAirlines is now home to a stock that only goes up - and it is deserved. #jetBlueAirways sees a slower road ahead but I remain a fan of any management team that recognizes that being everything to everyone is a bad premise. A combined Spirit and Frontier - albeit a much smaller Spirit should it come about - is more of the same. Presence everywhere - dominance nowhere. Hands out for help to start another route. So, it just feels like more of the same. On the podcast we have some fun talking about the new DOT initiative seeking information from consumers on the intricacies of the airline business and how best to make it more competitive. You have to be freakin' kidding me? Right? There were two quips from the Wall Street analysts regarding earnings releases that made me smile: 1) the always quotable #JamieBaker at JPMorgan calling American's report - "Fuel Adjusted Mediocrity"; and 2) #ThomasFitzgerald at Cowen suggesting to Frontier's management that "we believe it would be more prudent to under promise and over deliver". Amen. Enjoy the podcast. https://lnkd.in/ezGNmHhi #swelbar

🚨In the fast-paced world of aviation, trust is not just vital – it's literally life-saving. So, when an air traffic controller at JFK unleashed an expletive and ordered a Delta Air Lines jet to STOP, everyone's heart must have skipped a beat.💔 Let's explore the implications: 1️⃣ **Human factors in aviation safety:** The controller’s outburst, while unprofessional, could indicate a critical save. Human vigilance remains invaluable, proving that high-tech systems need human oversight. 2️⃣ **Stress behind the radar:** Such an outburst highlights a continuing issue – the monumental stress controllers endure. Support systems and mental health services must evolve to better serve these essential workers. 3️⃣ **Reputation on the line:** Branding isn’t just glossy ad campaigns; it’s lived reliability. Delta and JFK now need to regain confidence from wary passengers. Transparency might be their best strategy right now. This moment is a stark reminder for all of us – people, not machines, hold the ultimate card in ensuring safety. Something to ponder next time you book that redeye flight 🌟. #Aviation #DeltaAirLines #JFK https://lnkd.in/emdgfXDV
