Dartmouth Health was well represented at last week's Organization of Nurse Leaders (ONL) Winter Quarterly Meeting. Paula Seaman, MSN, DA, RN, CENP, Chief Nursing Officer at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD), Karen Beinhaur, MSN/Ed, RN, CEN, NEA-BC, New London Hospital (NLH) Chief Nursing Officer, Amy Visser-Lynch, MSN, RN, CENP, Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center (MAHHC) Chief Nursing Officer, and Susan Odden, therapist with Trivium Integrative Mental Health presented a poster, "Trauma Informed to Trauma Active: A Mental Health Program for Nurses," at the conference. This poster presentation highlighted the partnership with Trivium Integrative Mental Health for embedding mental health, and includes the results of a pilot with this model using evidence-based interventions at APD. The program team is now replicating the model for use at MAHHC and NLH. The presentation team focused on the impact on nursing, but this program is available to all employees at these locations. We appreciate this example of the incredible work throughout the Dartmouth Health system that is transforming nursing practice and patient care in our region.

On Monday, Alice Peck Day celebrated our amazing employees who reached milestone anniversaries of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and even 35 years! A special congratulations to Diane and Heidi, who both celebrated an incredible 35 years with APD. When asked what has kept them here for over three decades, they both shared the same answer: the people. To everyone who reached a milestone, congratulations and thank you for your dedication, passion, and all that you do to make APD such a special place.

We’re excited to partner with the Lebanon Opera House for the second year to bring back the “Come as You Are” free movie series in 2025. This initiative celebrates the arts while fostering togetherness, addressing feelings of loneliness, and creating no-cost, family-friendly fun for all. “Partnering with our neighbors at LOH to support community connections, address feelings of loneliness, and bring joy in a no-cost, fun way is a natural fit for the Hospital,” said Beth O’Donnell, MPH, Director of Community Health at APD. “We’re delighted to support this popular series for another year.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gmT5gF7R

In honor of #NationalRuralHealthDay, we’re proud to highlight the expertise of our own Kristie Foster, Emergency Department Nurse Manager at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, in the latest podcast by Stratis Health. Kristie joins Stratis Health President and CEO, Jennifer Lundblad and Kevin Biese, Associate Professor of Emergency and Internal Medicine at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Medicine, to discuss how rural hospitals can improve care for older adults while fostering a more equitable healthcare system. At APD, we’re especially proud to be the first rural critical access hospital in the U.S. to achieve geriatric emergency department accreditation, a testament to the dedication of Kristie and our entire team. 🎧 Listen to the podcast here: https://lnkd.in/eh465eQp

We are excited to announce that Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD), has achieved Level 1 Geriatric Emergency Department (GED) accreditation from the American College of Emergency Physicians. This makes APD the first critical access hospital in the United States to hold this distinction. This accreditation program was created to recognize emergency departments that uphold the highest standards of care for older adults. “Healthcare is ever changing, with some of the greatest advancements ever seen in modern medicine, but we must be cognizant of not losing the 'care' in healthcare,” said Kristie R. Foster, MSN, RN, GERO-BC. “Each one of us deserves to be treated with kindness and compassion in addition to all the latest and greatest medication and treatment modalities. Our geriatric patients want to be heard about what matters most to them. Geriatric emergency care is focused on making these a priority. That is the heart of this work.” Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gSeCWk3N
