🔈Hi LinkedIners! I still have more to share about my participation on #AAORIAForum2024 from the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance in October 2024. As an #ECOP, despite being highly envolved on the conference, we had our own side event, named Intergeracional Dialogue. My visionary group members Tristan da Silva e Ornelas, Gary Kett Milena Ferreira, Blessing Charuka, PhD and me, have been coached by Martin Zimmer (he/him) and we worked on the priority area #Coastal_Resilience. One interesting thing I realized is that, our thoughts were all connected to facilitate community engagement and connections across the Atlantic communities! That's why we came up with an ideia and presented the #All_Atlantic_community_voices, a platform to connect coastal communities around Atlantic Ocean, that can give local communities space to share their needs, issues and also the best practices and solutions that have been implemented at local level, as well as, some solutions that other communities may be looking for! read more about the policy briefs here👇https://lnkd.in/eirwtfbi ❓ What do you thing about this ideia❓

Lots of lessons learned from DOTCAN Institute participation at the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance workshop in Ottawa in October. These included recognition of the severe barriers to dialogue and cooperation between youth in many countries, including African nations, with their counterparts due not only to funding limitations but also mobility restrictions associated with time-consuming and expensive visa applications. Inequity of mobility and accessibility of ocean researchers to international workshops and conferences would be a useful topic to address during the remainder of the UN Ocean Decade. Appreciation to Fisheries and Oceans Canada / Pêches et Océans Canada, MEOPAR: Marine Environmental Observation, Prediction and Response Network, the All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance and DOTCAN Institute for helping Katelene Delgado, Clement Kwara and Thomas Lartey get to Ottawa so that their voices could be heard.
