We officially broke ground earlier this week on the City of Aiken's new Mixed-Use Building! This new 3 story 38,000 sf facility will provide office space in Aiken's downtown for Savannah River National Lab and University of South Carolina Aiken along with providing conference, exhibit, and event spaces. Our pre-construction team has worked with the City of Aiken, Aiken Corporation, Capstone Services, and Cheatham Fletcher Scott Architects + Designers for the past 10 months during the design process. One of our main tasks during pre-construction was to provide construction cost estimates at various stages throughout the design process to ensure the project came in on budget. This is a challenge on projects of this size and scale; however, this is something our team excels at. We are proud to report that our final contract price for this project is within 0.5% of our first estimate when we only had a basic floor plan and exterior elevations with no other design nor any engineering work completed. This was huge for the City of Aiken as it allowed them to achieve all of their goals for this project with the funds allocated and reduced the design and permitting timeframe.

This Design+Build medical office project is located in Grovetown, GA adjacent to the new Columbia County hospital. This is the third location that we have built for this growing medical practice. The client wanted a fresh and modern look that was different from their more traditional other facilities. The design team at McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture did not disappoint! This project had some unique challenges related to the property that this new facility needed to be built on. The lot had huge topography changes, wetlands at one end, utilities that weren’t easily accessible, and was too small to accommodate the needed parking spaces. Our team was able to provide some unique cost effective solutions which made the project viable. One example was our Pre-Construction staff was able to negotiate an agreement with the adjacent church to allow shared use of parking between the church and the medical practice as both entities needed additional parking but needed the parking at different times. This proved to be a win-win for all parties. Our team’s creative problem solving ability is one of many reasons why clients like Augusta ENT continue to call upon Allen+Batchelor Construction time after time. #AllenBatchelor #MedicalOfficeBuilding #NewConstruction #RepeatCustomer #ImprovingLives

Featured project: Church of the Good Shepherd, Augusta, GA -- This project involved an extensive renovation and addition to the existing church facilities, featuring several unique finishes such as cast stone, slate floors, extensive woodwork throughout, sandblasted masonry to resemble stone, and an intricate brick veneer. The new and refurbished spaces included a parish hall, commercial kitchen, classrooms, business office, chapel, bell tower, and sanctuary overflow seating, all fully equipped with audio and visual equipment. #ChurchConstruction #BuildingFaith
