"These devices capture the imagination — and they’re getting better at helping us look after our patients better and drive medicine forward. By marrying our humanity with the technology, we can effect positive change on ourselves and the planet. We don’t have to predict the future. It’s all happening now,” states Professor of surgery and neurological surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and ALPS Founding President Dr. David Armstrong in this USC article about USC physicians are creating byte-size miracles through #AI #Innovation. Message from Syria: #ActAgainstAmputation Abdul Razzak Abdul Aziz ALPS (American Limb Preservation Society)
This year's #DFCon2024 Best Clinical Abstract Award Winner 2024 is Dr. Abdul Razzak Abdul Aziz For #DFCon, he submitted the poster with the title: MAKING GUIDELINES WORK FOR YOU (THE EVALUATION AND MANAGEMENT OF DIABETIC FOOT DURING THE SYRIAN CRISIS) When we asked him how he got into the field, he commented: “In 2004, I was working as a general surgeon in the General Surgery Department at the General Assembly of Damascus Hospital. One day, a diabetic patient came in with tears in her eyes, expressing her frustration to the head of the department. She had been visiting the hospital for some time due to a foot injury, but each time she came in, she saw a different doctor who prescribed various treatments, and her condition continued to worsen. On that day, I approached the head of the department and asked if I could take over the care of diabetic foot cases. He responded, "I would be grateful if you did this," and all the surgeons in the department agreed. Since then, I have been dedicated to fighting for diabetic foot patients.” Congratulations on the award, Abdul, and thank you for your amazing work! #ActAgainstAmputation
