Just in time for the weekend -- the latest episode of #Futureverse where Molly Wood and I sit down with acclaimed author Jeff VanderMeer (who deserves a gold biscuit for having a LinkedIn profile!). We discuss his latest novel, Absolution, a surprise fourth volume to his Southern Reach trilogy (in bookstores now!), his thoughts on "climate fiction," themes of adaptation, human relationships, and why you should never go in the secret room. Listen on your favorite platform or at the link below. https://lnkd.in/g9-kPnkX

I didn't know what "carbon tunnel vision" was until my colleague Jermayne Ong and I collaborated on this essay. But as you will read, it is relevant to this moment. Carbon emissions dominate climate discussions, but they’re just one piece of the puzzle — non-carbon indicators like air quality, ocean acidification, and others are equally critical for understanding the full scope of the environmental crisis. Ignoring these factors can lead to carbon tunnel vision. We explore why expanding our focus to include these non-carbon indicators is essential for shaping a genuinely sustainable future. https://lnkd.in/d889B22j

"Air pollution and climate change largely have the same causes." New episode klaxon for #InOurHands! In this episode, we talk with Bjarne Pedersen, Executive Director of Clean Air Asia, about the critical links between air quality and climate change. We cover the primary sources of air pollution in Asian cities, the challenges in addressing them, and the growth of electric vehicles in the region. We also discuss how data collection and partnerships between civil society, business, and government can drive air quality reform. We (= Molly Wood and I) just launched a new #Futureverse episode with Stephen Markley, author of "The Deluge!" Molly and I speak with Stephen about the novel's focus on climate change, the gradual breakdown of society, and the American context. We go into the science behind the book, including methane hydrates (yikes, new fear unlocked), the role of fiction in making climate change more tangible, and the importance of individual and collective action in addressing the climate crisis. https://lnkd.in/gMJWz993

We've written a short framing piece on a topic of high interest to me since we developed our climate and sustainability investment thesis at Amasia: the intersection with aging populations worldwide. My thanks to my colleague Jermayne Ong and Amasia Fellow Sara Goh who worked on this topic which is simultaneously obvious and hard to get one's arms around. https://lnkd.in/gUbkRX6u
