We dramatically improve the experiences and outcomes of kids in foster care.
About us
America’s Kids Belong is dramatically improving experiences and outcomes for kids in foster care. We focus in three areas: 1 - Recruit and retain more foster and adoptive parents to ensure a family for every child. 2 - Equip communities, businesses and faith communities to become Foster Friendly to ensure a Foster Friendly community for every family. 3 - Create coalitions for change across government, business and faith to bring hope to every community. Imagine being a young child whisked out of your home by strangers. It’s a traumatizing reality for 400,000+ kids in the U.S. foster care system. With just half the needed foster homes, children get shuffled from placement to placement, made to feel like they don’t belong. And for the 26,000 kids who age out without a family, outcomes are dire. The America’s Kids Belong team of 50 includes two former foster youth, 150+ foster placements and 34 adoptions. We “live the mission,” and lean into our lived experiences to infuse empathy and wisdom into our work. Our mission is to dramatically improve the experiences and outcomes for kids in foster care. A healthy family is the most powerful way to do this. Our three investment areas seek to ensure: * A family for every child. We recruit foster/adoptive parents through public awareness and our I Belong Project, a video storytelling initiative that amplifies voices of adoption-eligible kids in care to match them with families. Our 2,500 videos have helped 900+ kids find adoptive families. * Foster-Friendly communities for every family. We equip communities – businesses, faith and community groups - via our Foster Friendly App to offer discounts, services, support and encouragement to help families foster longer and stronger. The App has 8,500 users and 1,500 offers so far. * Hope for every community. Our trusted relationships with child welfare enable us to coalesce these same community partnerships to drive sustainable change in foster care.

Hannah Rodriguez, a foster and adoptive mother, shares her life with three biological children, two grown sons and a sibling group of five sisters, currently in foster care. Together with her husband, Aaron, they've “always held a special place in their hearts for kids in foster care, especially older kids awaiting adoption.” When Hannah repeatedly came across a Georgia Kids Belong I Belong Project video (https://bit.ly/4dGg6Ix) on social media, featuring Miguel, who at the time was close to aging out of foster care, she couldn't shake the impact of his story. As Miguel reached the threshold for aging out, Hannah firmly believed in his right to permanency and the timeless truth that no one is too old to find belonging. Motivated by this conviction, Hannah and her family reached out to Miguel, and nearly a year ago, he became an integral part of their family, finding his forever home. Hannah's family stands as a living testament to the diversity of family structures, demonstrating that love and support know no bounds and that everyone, regardless of circumstance, deserves a place to call home. There are only half as many licensed foster homes as kids in care. If you've ever considered fostering or adoption, start your journey today at https://lnkd.in/exT2PtTG
