ABS showcased its commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the #offshore industry with a packed agenda for OSEA 2024. 🌏 Ben Ford, ABS Director, Business Development moderated the "The Decarbonising and Digitalised World” session, leading key discussions on decarbonization approaches for the #FPSO industry, harnessing digital solutions to enhance operational efficiencies, building and financing next-generation FPSOs, and the impact on vessel demand and crew. Ben also served as the Track Chairperson. He was joined by a distinguished panel including: ● Gilles Lamerie, Group Subcontract Director, SBM Offshore ● Jonas Berge, Senior Director, Applied Technology, Emerson ● Lars Gunnar Vogt, Chief Technical Officer, Yinson Production ● Soichi Ide, Group Executive Managing Officer, Head of Project Execution, MODEC Hai Gu, ABS Vice President, Technology, moderated the “Towards the Electrification of the Offshore Industry” session. G-NAOE 2024 organized by Europe-Korea Marine and Ocean Engineers Association (EKMOA) took place in Southampton, United Kingdom. The conference gathered 225 participants from 15 countries, fostering an inspiring and collaborative environment within the fields of naval architecture and ocean engineering. 🌍 The main theme entitled “Riding the Smart Wave for a Safer Ocean,” emphasized the role of innovative, environmentally friendly technologies in shaping a sustainable #maritime future. 🌏 Six ABS papers were presented, ranging from Applied Technology to AI and Digital Twins to Clean Energy Transition. Ezekiel Davis, ABS Vice President, Regional Business Development, Europe, delivered a keynote speech on 'Maritime Innovation' and Dr. Spyros Hirdaris CEng,FRINA,FSNAME, ABS Manager, Global Ship Systems Center, received a best paper award on ABS’ joint work on AI and Ship Systems with Aalto University (Finland), Laskaridis Shipping Co. Ltd. (Greece) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China). 🌏 The Society of Naval Architects of Korea and ABS will cohost the next G-NAOE in Houston, Texas in 2026.
