The International Zinc Association and the American Galvanizers Association are pleased to announce a new joint initiative to promote the critical role galvanized steel plays in the energy transition. The Clean Energy Steel Construction Center (CESCC) will champion the use of galvanized steel to prevent corrosion and ensure longevity in solar arrays, wind turbines, and infrastructure used in the transmission and distribution of energy. IZA Executive Director Andrew Green praised the new initiative, “The Clean Energy Steel Construction Center complements IZA’s existing work in renewable energy and zinc batteries. Through our close collaboration with AGA, we can leverage our investment and achieve a greater outcome for the zinc and galvanized industries.” Added AGA Executive Director Melissa Lindsley, “Hot-dip galvanized steel has been the preferred protection system for power infrastructure for decades. As we transition to more clean energy sources, galvanized steel provides these structures long-term, low maintenance protection – adding to the overall sustainability and resiliency of our power grid.” Making the most of incentives afforded by both the U.S Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, CESCC will feature a mix of educational programs, promotion, and government advocacy. #zinc #ZincForTheFuture #steel #galvanizing #energy #solar #wind
