Travis Stimeling Early Career Award for Excellence in Teaching Appalachian Studies honors individuals within the first ten years of their careers who are dedicated to intellectual rigor and pedagogical integrity in constructing and delivering inclusive knowledge about Appalachia and its people. Thanks to sponsorship by ETSU Appalachian Studies, the winner will receive $250. This award was established in 2024 by the ASA Education Committee. The award was named in memory of the late Dr. Travis Stimeling, Professor of Musicology and Director of the Bluegrass and Old-Time Bands at West Virginia University.
