  • The Eskenazi Health Thomas & Arlene Grande Campus is a state-of-the-art health center that opened in 2024 on the east side of Indianapolis. Eskenazi Health, arcDESIGN, Moody Nolan, and Studio Axis collaborated with members of the immediate neighborhoods and community organizations throughout the planning and design of the building. Steered by community input, the facility will serve as a hub for community gathering, providing accessible care options and social amenities under one roof. Thank you to all who contributed in making this project a success and ensuring its value in the community for years to come. We’re just days away until the 2024 Healthcare Design Conference + Expo kicks off in Indianapolis! Speakers Ashley Overley, M.D., CEO of Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center; Daniel Kloc, AIA, NCARB, Director of Facilities Planning & Management at Eskenazi Health; Jamie Raymond, EDAC, RID, LEED AP, Interior Designer & Partner at Four Point Design and Michelle Bayt, AIA, Architect & Associate at arcDESIGN are presenting session E41 -Designing for Recovery, Dignity, and Respect in an Opioid Treatment Program on Monday, October 7: 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. The presentation will be in Wabash Ballroom 3 in the Indiana Convention Center. #hcdcon #eskenazihealth Session Details This session will explore designing for mental health and addiction treatment services that focus on the fundamentals of recovery, development of recovery plans, and relapse prevention. An existing 15,000-square-foot building within an abandoned shopping center campus has been completely rejuvenated and remodeled, both inside and out, for a narcotics treatment program in downtown Indianapolis. The presenting team will include the architect/healthcare planner, interior designer, the mental health services CEO and owner’s representative who will share successful strategies on developing a new center for such program. Some neighborhood groups vote against providing addiction treatment services close by, but this project is spearheading a rejuvenation of an abandoned but upcoming parcel of downtown Indianapolis. The team designed the facility to welcome individuals in need and offer comfort, dignity, confidentiality, and respect while providing top quality treatment, safety, and security. Through a collaborative design process including research, facility tours, and virtual walkthroughs, the new facility provides daily methadone treatments, individual consultation, lab testing, physical exams, group visits, and community outreach within an efficient but flexible environment.

As summer ends, we’re reflecting on some of the standout projects we were fortunate to be part of. One that truly made a “splash” is Plainfield Splash Island. Water slides, a splash pad, and sunshine, it was the perfect project to bring joy to families all season long! Banning Engineering

A cutting-edge project at IU Health Riley Hospital for Children in downtown Indianapolis introduced new magnetoencephalography (MEG) technology, allowing the hospital to evaluate seizures in patients, specifically children. This is one of only a handful of healthcare facilities in the United States that offer MEG services.
