The Sweet Agricultural Products of Louisiana (Honey and Sugar cane)... This week, the #Southern University Laboratory School through the #3SistersEngagement program had an incredible opportunity to engage with 122 bright middle school students on Honey and Sugarcane, which are the two sweet and vital agricultural products of Louisiana. The guest Ag. Experts were from the #BeeBreeding and #GeneticsLab in Baton Rouge, LA, and the #SugarcaneLab in Houma, LA, who enriched the program with their wealth of knowledge on honey and sugarcane production. This impactful program is proudly sponsored by the USDA-ARS Midsouth Area Office and expertly managed by Dr. Shalamar Armstrong alongside an incredible planning team of USDA scientists and staff, Southern University Ag. Ph.D., undergraduate students, and an LSU undergraduate student. The goal of the program was to create curiosity, foster interest in agricultural sciences, and inspire the next generation of leaders in agriculture and STEM. #Agriculture #STEMEducation #Honey #Sugarcane #YouthEngagement #USDA #Sustainability #Education #Louisiana #Agronomy #CommunityImpact #SENDLAB

I am pleased to announce that I recently had the opportunity to participate in the ASA, CSSA, SSSA Annual Meeting 2024 in San Antonio, Texas, where I presented my research on the evaluation of innovative remote sensing for measuring soil nutrient dynamics. This was an amazing experience that allowed me to deepen my understanding of diverse research areas in my field, connect with new colleagues, and reconnect with old friends that I see every year at this conference. I would like to express my gratitude to my advisor, Dr. Shalamar Armstrong, for the opportunity to present this research, and to the Armstrong-SEND Lab, Purdue University, Indiana USA for their unconditional support throughout this journey.
