Job Title: Senior Estimator Location: Naperville, IL or Atlanta, GA Duration: 12 Months Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their team! This position requires working on-site three days per week (Tuesday through Thursday). Job Description: As a Senior Estimator, you will play a vital role in preparing cost estimates across various disciplines. You will provide accurate pricing and cost benchmarking validations and deliver specialty cost intelligence. With your energy and utilities industry experience, you will develop estimates that reflect local market and project conditions. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates and perform accurate quantity takeoffs. - Develop conceptual and feasibility cost model estimates using historical benchmarks and industry expertise. - Gather up-to-date pricing information from databases, contractors, and suppliers to ensure accurate estimates. - Input estimate takeoff information for specific disciplines and create unit cost pricing models. - Collaborate with architects and engineers to clearly understand project scope during estimate preparation. - Finalize estimate unit cost pricing to reflect current market conditions and specific project logistics. - Review historic benchmark costs and identify variances. - Assist senior management in identifying ways to enhance project efficiency. - Maintain and update a cost data library in WinEst. - Reconcile multiple estimates and explain variance cost drivers. - Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field, plus 5+ years of relevant experience. - Estimating experience in the energy and utilities industry is required. - Intermediate proficiency with WinEst and experience with electronic takeoff tools such as CAD Measure. - Strong analytical skills and decision-making abilities with a clear and structured approach to problem-solving. - Excellent communication and presentation skills. - Knowledge of local construction market trends and pricing conventions in the area of operation. - Ability to prepare conceptual cost model estimates using limited information and historical data.
