Passionate about helping food and beverage companies provide safe and high-quality goods for consumers.

About us

ASI is a leading farm-to-fork food safety service provider based in St. Louis, Missouri. Our goal is to make the certification process easy, and our reliable team of auditors is calibrated to perform 3,000+ cGMP Food Safety Audits and SQF Certifications annually. ASI has a long history in the food safety industry that started as a pest control company for food processing plants in St Louis, Missouri in 1948. ASI became one of the first food safety auditing companies in the United States when our food processing clients asked us to help them improve their food safety practices and help them meet FDA expectations. As the industry grew, so did our Food Safety Programs. This led us to develop a cGMP auditing system to minimize risks for specific types of food industry businesses: primary producers, food processing plants, distribution centers, packaging facilities, retailers, kitchen/commissaries, nutraceuticals, pet food, and pet feed companies. Because of the growing and ever-changing climate in the food safety industry, we closed the Pest Control business in 2008 to focus solely on Food Safety. ASI was a family-owned business for nearly 100 years until 2022 when the Williams family merged ASI with Kiwa (an international TIC company) to become a part of the Kiwa Group. Today, ASI still operates as a family-run business, but under a much bigger, global umbrella following the Kiwa merger. ASI Food Safety is accredited by ANSI, the American National Standards Institute, as a SQF Certification Body.

"A FOOD SAFETY ICON" Featured in the Emmy Award-Winning Netflix documentary ”Poisoned.”

One Week Until Thanksgiving: Is Your Turkey Ready? Today is Thursday, November 21—exactly one week until Thanksgiving. If you’re planning to serve a large frozen turkey (20-24 pounds), today or tomorrow is (mathematically) your last chance to purchase it and ensure it’s thawed safely in time for the big day. Let’s do the math: A turkey needs to thaw in the refrigerator for 24 hours per 4-5 pounds of weight. For a 20-24 pound turkey, that means 5-6 days of thawing time. Starting today ensures your turkey is safely thawed by Thanksgiving morning, leaving you plenty of time to season, prepare, and cook it to perfection. Why is thawing safely so important? NEVER thaw a turkey on the counter. While it might seem convenient, the outer layers of the turkey can reach unsafe temperatures long before the inside is thawed. This creates a perfect environment for bacteria like Salmonella and Campylobacter to grow. Cooking may not kill all of the bacteria if the turkey isn’t heated evenly, which can lead to serious foodborne illnesses. Here’s the safest method for thawing your turkey in the refrigerator: Keep the turkey in its sealed plastic packaging to prevent cross-contamination. Place the turkey in a pan with a lip to catch any juices that might leak. This is especially important to avoid contamination of other foods in the refrigerator, like produce that may not be cooked. Allow 24 hours of thawing time per 4-5 pounds of turkey: 4-12 pounds: 1-3 days 12-16 pounds: 3-4 days 16-20 pounds: 4-5 days 20-24 pounds: 5-6 days Planning ahead is a key ingredient in food safety. A little preparation now ensures your Thanksgiving meal will not only be delicious but also safe for everyone around the table. #FoodSafety #Thanksgiving #TurkeyThawing #Salmonella #HolidayPlanning
