REVIEW: This year, we joined with our friends and supporters to achieve a lot of great things -- one of which is our #SaveBayhDole video campaign. The campaign aims to raise awareness among Americans about the risks of the NIST march-in framework and encourage them to take action against it. In a series of brief videos, sixteen top technology transfer experts from across the country explain how the proposal will harm scientists and engineers at universities -- and discourage startups from licensing early-stage research breakthroughs to develop them into real-world products. "Changing the rules of the game will prohibit the ability of research universities to find licensees and bring the capital that is necessary for further R&D of those technologies." - Association of American Universities (AAU) tech transfer expert Kate Hudson, MA, JD, MPAP "The concern about the march-in framework is this is going to be counter to American competitiveness... this policy will have a chilling effect on new investment, especially for university tech transfer but also small businesses." - Association of University Research Parks (AURP) CSO Brian Darmody "[The march-in proposal] is being done under the guise of lowering drug costs. It can't possibly lower drug prices, but it can lower innovation, so it's a very real threat...
