About us

The Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) was founded in 1992 as a non-profit organization comprised of law enforcement, legal professionals, mental health professionals, corporate security experts, probation and parole personnel and others involved in the area of threat and violence risk assessment. The purpose of the ATAP Northeast chapter is to work within the New York area to facilitate education and networking opportunities to its members, whose work is focused on issues of targeted violence, threats, workplace violence, stalking, and security. ATAP, as an organization, focuses on providing the necessary knowledge, tools, and support to better prepare our members to handle threats of violence and other related situations; thus, benefitting the collective knowledge around threat assessment as well as increasing public safety.
