  • Join us next Wednesday, August 28th, for an engaging discussion with author Paul M. Pressly as he explores his latest book, A Southern Underground Railroad: Black Georgians and the Promise of Spanish Florida and Indian Country. This compelling work offers a powerful counter-narrative in American history, revealing how enslaved individuals sought freedom and human dignity beyond the confines of Jefferson’s “Empire of Liberty” and outside the expanding boundaries of the United States. • We’re proud to announce that Mariah Woolridge, a member of our AHC Community Club, has secured 2nd place at the Georgia 4-H State Congress for her outstanding work on the Atlanta Housing Crisis Project! Mariah’s presentation addressed critical issues surrounding affordable housing, including corporate ownership and gentrification, and was highlighted by her powerful original poem. Her efforts were recognized as a significant contribution to the conversation on housing advocacy. This achievement reflects Mariah’s dedication and the broader commitment of the Fulton County 4-H community to important social issues. Join us at our next 4-H Community Club Meeting on September 8th, and learn more about Mariah's work and 4-H via the following link. | https://bit.ly/46ysOXj

  • The American Red Cross invites you to donate blood TOMORROW, August 13, at the Atlanta History Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 🩸 The Red Cross supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood and blood components, all from generous volunteers. However, supply often falls short of demand, as only about 3% of eligible donors give blood each year. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood—whether for accident recovery, cancer treatment, or childbirth. Your donation can make a critical difference.
