On December 2nd, CSTAC New York City of the The Center For Educational Partnerships collaborated with Ghylian Bell of the Urban Yoga Foundation and Timothy “StoneDancer” Coleman to facilitate a workshop titled “A Matter of Trust: Empowering Community School Leaders and Educators to Foster Authentic Relationships and Inclusive Communities.” Educators were invited to participate in a number of varied trust building tools designed to help strengthen the connection between students, families, and colleagues. This workshop empowered educators to meet NYC benchmarks while fostering relationships within their communities. The Port Chester-Rye district has launched an engaging professional development series to implement the Community Schools Forward Strategy across all schools. Led by District Superintendent Dr. Aurelia Henriquez, along with Deputy Superintendent Dr. Colleen Carroll and Dr. Maeva Rich Kennedy, the initiative aims for the successful adoption of community school strategies. Collaborating with Olga Maluf from Fordham University’s NYS Community Schools Technical Assistance Center for Eastern Region, the series uses the Community Schools Forward rubric to promote student success and well-being. The atmosphere was lively, with administrators sharing insights on enhancing student achievement and creating a supportive school environment. This series is a pivotal opportunity to align with the impactful work already underway in Port Chester and provide a clearer roadmap for dynamic and inclusive schools. We are excited to see how this initiative will deepen and strengthen community engagement and involvement for the district's students and families!
