Au Pair in America

Earlier this month, au pairs from the U.S. Department of State's Exchange Visitor Program and our team members volunteered their time (and never-ending energy!) to cheer on runners from around the world who pounded the 26.2 miles of pavement for the #NYCMarathon. Big news! 🥳 We're thrilled to now service families in the Knoxville, Tennessee area!

A small group of my Kansas City au pairs came to check out the American Jazz Museum with me earlier this month. We had a decent-led tour learning more about Kansas City and Black history through the lens of this American music genre. Select Thursdays at noon they even offer free, live, jazz music; so we hung around to catch a few songs. Not a bad day at work. Au Pair in America

The #NYCMarathon training continues for Community Counselors Marli and Shana! They've kept up their routines and are gearing up for the big day. On top of supporting one another, they also have support from the whole community — including the nearly 175 day-of volunteers from Au Pair in America. "It makes me feel really proud to be part of an organization that sees the NYC marathon bringing the world together just like we do as an organization and shows up to show our support. I was proud to be a volunteer last year, I’ll be proud to be a runner this year and probably cry when I see the au pairs in my group and colleagues along the way cheering me on!" - Shana

Today we awarded Senior Community Counselor Barbara Bancel, the Au Pair in America Ambassador for Cultural Exchange Award for outstanding service to our program mission. Barbara has been bringing the world together for Au Pair in America in Oahu for over 37 years. We celebrated her achievements with host families in Honolulu. Amazing! Mahalo Barbara! Aloha 🌸🌺🌸🌺

This morning Lena Morris, one of my local host moms, and I had the opportunity to meet with a member of Congressman Sam Graves' staff to talk about the value of cultural exchange programs. The au pair program not only provides affordable, flexible childcare but also deepens participants knowledge of foreign cultures strengthening international relationships. This is a program that deserves recognition for its small part in making the world a better place. #CulturalExchange #BringingTheWorldTogether Au Pair in America #AuPair
