  • Kindra, Nurse of the Year at Aurora West Allis Medical Center, serves as an internal float pool nurse. She stands out for her exceptional clinical skills, commitment to evidence-based care and active advocacy for nursing excellence. Her leadership as the Chair of the Professional Development Committee showcases her dedication to promoting professional growth among colleagues. Kindra's passion and commitment were recently demonstrated through her involvement in enhancing accessibility to the ExCEL-RN program (where nurses receive education support) and organizing the inaugural Aurora West Allis Advanced Practice Clinician Award for Excellence in Emergency Medicine. “Witnessing my mother and sister spend time in the hospital gave me firsthand insight into the health care system. These experiences deepened my empathy and understanding of patient care. It fueled my desire to pursue a nursing career and to be the best nurse I can be. Since becoming a nurse, my involvement in Professional Governance has been transformative for my growth. Engaging in this collaborative decision-making process has empowered me to advocate for nursing initiatives and contribute meaningfully to the profession. It enhanced my leadership skills and highlighted the importance of nurses having a voice.”

  • Tyler is a fun-loving 9-year-old with a passion for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dogman books, Pringles and all things Titanic. Whether he’s riding his bike, playing baseball or hanging out with his sister Mikayla and his dog Oreo, he brings joy to everyone around him. Tyler’s life changed when his teachers noticed he was struggling to hear during the pandemic. After testing, his family learned he had progressive hearing loss—something that wasn’t detected at birth. With the help of hearing aids and his trusted Roger FM microphone, Tyler now embraces every sound he once missed. His journey wouldn’t be the same without his amazing audiologist, Meghan, guiding the way. We recently had the chance to surprise Tyler with an unforgettable experience—joining the Brewers™ at Spring Training! Stay tuned as we share more about his adventure.

  • Rachel, Nurse of the Year at Aurora BayCare Medical Center, serves as a registered nurse in the ICU. A notable achievement is her creation of teaching materials for a peripheral IV training class for inpatient nurses. She's actively involved in safety committees, contributing to multiple initiatives to improve patient care. Her clinical expertise extends to high acuity neurological nursing, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and primary precepting, where she dedicates herself to mentoring new nurses. She encourages safety and process improvements to eliminate preventable harm to patients and actively participates in the Professional Governance program. “I always wanted to help people and enter the medical field. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant in high school and started working right away. Making a positive impact on those residents, whether it was just listening to make them feel heard or helping them when they were hurting gave me joy. I worked my way up to the nursing role. As a nurse, the impact I was making became larger and more gratifying. There are many difficult cases, and some will stay with you. Those are the ones that push me to be better and continue on this journey.”
