According to business executives responding to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas's Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey, Texas factory activity was flat in November. This is another great example of what regional collaboration in workforce development programs can produce in the semiconductor industry. Merit America, America’s Frontier Fund's Foundation, and the Texas Institute for Electronics have partnered with Austin Community College to announce a national expansion of ACC's Manufacturing Production (AMP) training program, which will be offered to low-wage workers nationwide at no upfront cost. In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, ARMA's Director of Workforce Development Alexis Flores attended an Apprenticeship Employer Network event hosted by Workforce Solutions Capital Area in partnership with Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area.   Yesterday's event recognized Austin's DOL Apprenticeship Ambassadors. Employers from the skilled trades and manufacturing to healthcare and technology shared experiences and information about how employers can implement Registered Apprenticeship Programs to help expand the success of apprenticeships and make a difference in our workforce and community. ARMA's November Veterans Day luncheon attendees heard from 13-year-old Remmer Machamer about his passion for bringing Wreaths Across America(WAA) to Texas State Cemetery in Austin. WAA’s mission is to honor and remember fallen service members, recognize the family's sacrifice, and teach the value of freedom. There are 3,300 veterans and prominent individuals interned at Texas State Cemetery. Remmer is approaching his fundraising deadline on Dec. 2 and he needs our support! An additional 1,200 wreath sponsorships are needed to reach the Texas State Cemetery's goal of 3,300 wreaths. The Texas State Cemetery requires that 100% coverage be provided. Happy National Apprenticeship Week!  What is National Apprenticeship Week(NAW)? NAW is a nationwide celebration where employers, industry representatives, labor organizations, community-based organizations, workforce partners, educational institutions, and Federal, State, and Local government agencies host events to showcase the successes and value of Registered Apprenticeship for strengthening our economy by developing a highly skilled workforce to meet industry needs and creating pathways for career seekers to catapult into good jobs. What is a Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP)? Per DOL guidelines, a Registered Apprenticeship has five core components: * An apprentice is an employee * An apprentice receives structured, on-the-job training * Apprentices have related technical training that usually takes place in a classroom or online * The apprentice’s wages increase during the program as their skills increase * The apprentice earns a recognized industry credential on completion of the program Thank you to our members who provide RAPs as part of their workforce training and our training partners who support and/or provide training.
