How I Built an Insane Team by Taking My Own Advice Proof that a little training and a lot of heart can go a long way. When it came to building my team, I did exactly what I’ve been advising my clients to do for over 25 years: Hire for attitude and aptitude, not just experience. Hire PEOPLE! I don’t hire traditional recruiters. Instead, I hire genuine, honest, authentic people—the kind of humans you want to root for. Many of them hadn’t yet found the right company or career path, but I saw something in them: potential. Why? Past experiences don’t define the job I’m hiring them to excel at in the future. Each person on my team has a solid B2B background but zero recruiting experience, and that’s intentional. Here’s the secret to my approach: ✨ I hire them for who they are, not who I think they should be. ✨ I teach them the business, the models, and the skills to succeed. ✨ I show them their strengths and how to use them to thrive. But here’s what I can’t teach: how to be a good person. They were already incredible human beings before we found each other. This team isn’t a reflection of me—it’s a reflection of them. They are their authentic selves, and I give them the freedom to shine. What’s the result? 🎯 A team of amazing humans who are exceptional, if not the BEST at what they do. True story...fake candidates. Dear AI, just STOP!!
Fake Candidates?! What the F is going on out there? (#WTF) Are you f-ing kidding me?!? This JUST happened to us: "I had a client interview a candidate today, and I had to go on Google Meet to let the people in. As soon as the candidate joined and started talking, I saw him and Immediately realized it was not the person I spoke with. I slacked the client immediately and had a follow-up call with them. He was blown away and baffled, he said the candidate was using an AI to try and talk." This is not the first time this has happened. We have been getting fake profiles and resumes from LinkedIn for the last 2 weeks. Did you think you were going to get hired? WTF?!?! This reiterates how valuable relationships with real people are!

New school meets old school...time to build that network!!
Ever think, "If I knew then what I know now..."? Of course, you do! Looking for a job and hiring someone in this climate sucks right now. HOWEVER, it won’t be like this forever. This too shall pass, and when it does, who is in your network? When the hiring blitz happens, who do you know? There has never been a better time to fortify your relationships and build that "dream team" of contacts. With AI-generated garbage clogging my inbox by the minute and resumes that are written by bots (WTF is this all about anyway?), I have no idea what's real or fake anymore. Or do I…? What’s real? 1. Human connection! Now is the time to reach out via the old-fashioned phone, have a coffee, send a direct message on LinkedIn or whatever social media space you choose and have a real conversation! 2. My network! Its not “what”, its “who”. To quote my good friend, Adam R. Connors “A smart person knows everything. A wise person knows everybody.” When you need that clutch consultant, who will you call? When you need a great recruiter that’s battle tested, connected, honest, and transparent, (like the crew at Averity 😉 ) who is that? Build your “rolodex” with the best in breed. 3. Peer groups or clubs: Get in person with people that have similar interests and traits as you. Share your wins and losses as a person. Remember that you are a human being like the rest of us. We are not cyborgs (yet) and unless you’re that person who would rather have conversations with broken tech devices, get out there and TALK TO PEOPLE!! Just set up your profile and our advanced AI will fill out job applications for you! Our goal is to answer questions as good (if not better!) than you, with 100% accuracy. How do you know what jobs I’m interested in? Our powerful algorithm matches you with the best jobs. You can manually choose the jobs you get applied to, or turn on Autopilot to automate the process. Will employers know I'm using XXX to apply? No, they can’t detect that your application came through our system. Our system is designed to submit applications naturally, just as if you applied directly. Do you customize my resume and cover letter? Yes! We generate a custom resume and cover letter based on each job description, and you can preview it before it’s sent. Are you F***ing kidding me?!?! A client of mine was getting one application every minute, to the point where they stopped reviewing them and just called me to take over. Averity had to stop running ads because of this. Recruiting firms and your network have never been more essential than they are now. Hang in there; this will all blow over soon enough.
