Only 34% of Americans believe capitalism is working for the average person. That’s one of the standout findings from JUST Capital’s latest Americans’ Views on Business survey. But there’s another key takeaway: people WANT businesses to step up and create a more just economy — one where workers are given opportunities to grow and truly share in prosperity. While many businesses are still figuring out what that looks like, B Corps are already proving it’s possible. A new report by WorkRise finds that U.S.-based B Corps lead the way in job quality: 📌 81% invest in upskilling and training 📌 73% regularly collect worker feedback 📌 66% cap CEO pay at no more than 5x the lowest-paid worker If B Corps are proof that people-first business is possible, why isn’t this the norm? 🔗 It’s time to rethink what we expect from business. Business doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Every company is part of a web of relationships—with workers, communities, customers, suppliers, and the planet. B Corps recognize this interdependence and commit to a different way of doing business—one that balances profit with purpose. That’s why every #BCorp signs the Declaration of Interdependence and makes legal changes to ensure their mission stays protected, no matter what. 🔗 Swipe through for a breakdown of the Declaration, or read it in full here: https://lnkd.in/gh-Kmp5Z How does interdependence show up in your work or personal life? 🦞 Maine’s iconic lobster industry is at a crossroads: with fewer legacy lobstermen, the state’s vital industry faces a labor shortage. But there’s hope. Immigrants and young people with no prior experience in the industry are stepping in to fill the gap, demonstrating that training programs and sponsorship are key to creating economic mobility. In the second episode of season 3 of our podcast, Forces For Good, our host Irving X Chan Gomez is joined by Ben Conniff of Luke's Lobster, and Ryan Rippel, Director of U.S. Economic Mobility and Opportunity at the Gates Foundation, to dive into how businesses can provide economic opportunities through training, mentorship, and development programs—empowering workers while supporting a changing economy. 🎧 Tune in now, available on all streaming platforms: https://bit.ly/41b2t0B This podcast was brought to you by B Lab and Hueman Group Media, with funding provided by the Gates Foundation. #EconomicMobility #Immigration #FutureOfWork

“There’s no moral High Ground. This is not right-wing or left-wing—it is just common sense. There’s no business on a burning planet and we have to change.” — Aisling Connaughton, co-founder of Cyd Connects and B Leader. For too long, the global economy has prioritized profit over people and the planet, driving climate change, biodiversity loss, and growing inequality. But what if the climate crisis isn’t the root problem—just a symptom of something bigger? In her TEDx talk, Aisling Connaughton breaks down the deeper issue: an economic system built on extraction—of resources, labor, and communities. The good news? There’s another way forward. Aisling explores how businesses can lead the transition to a regenerative economy by embedding purpose into their DNA with #BCorpCertification, moving from short-term profit to long-term impact, and learning from mindfulness practices like Vipassana meditation to rethink leadership and decision-making The shift from business as usual to business as a force for good is already happening. The question is: Will your business be part of it? 🎥 Watch the full TEDx talk and start rethinking the future of business: https://lnkd.in/eYd_yrix #BCorp #Sustainability #Leadership #RegenerativeEconomy #BusinessForGood

How different would our world be if businesses made community-driven change their priority? That’s what B Corps Balloon Latam and Go Vocal (formerly CitizenLab) are doing—rewriting the rules of stakeholder engagement to create more inclusive and impactful systems. In Chile, Balloon Latam is empowering rural communities to take control of their own sustainable development. Through initiatives like Saca tu Permiso Rural, they’re redirecting resources to where they’re needed most, putting the power of change back into local hands. Meanwhile, in the UK, Go Vocal (formerly CitizenLab) is using technology to break down the barriers that often prevent citizens from engaging in critical policy discussions. Their platform is helping people shape the future of the NHS, empowering citizens to actively participate in decision-making processes that affect their communities. The results? When businesses listen to and engage with communities, the impact can be transformative. This is the power of stakeholder engagement—and it's a core principle for #BCorps. B Lab is working globally to ensure that businesses embed these practices into their structures, making stakeholder engagement a foundational part of how they operate. 🔗 Read our latest blog to learn how Balloon Latam and Go Vocal (formerly CitizenLab) are transforming stakeholder engagement—and what B Lab is doing to make it a business norm: https://bit.ly/3X4PBXp Do you believe businesses can make a difference in their communities?
