The Top Gun for UAS!
About us
We are excited to announce the upcoming public launch of the Baltic Ghost Wing Center of Excellence (BGWCE), strategically located in Jõhvi, Estonia. Set to be officially unveiled on May 9, 2024, with a projected start in Fall 2024, BGWCE is poised to redefine the landscape of UAS training and tactical readiness. Drawing inspiration from the renowned "Top Gun" Navy Fighter Weapons School, our approach is based on proven aerial combat training techniques adapted for unmanned systems, ensuring a blend of technical proficiency and tactical acumen. Why BGWCE? The Center of Excellence is more than just a training facility; it embodies the resilience and spirit of the "Ghost Wings"—civilians and defense leagues united in their dedication to protect their homeland. BGWCE integrates cutting-edge technology with practical tactical training to prepare individuals not just to face challenges but to excel in high-stakes environments. Advanced Training and Curriculum: Our curriculum, meticulously designed over a 13-week course, focuses on FPV engineering, UAV operations, and tactical deployments. The program is rigorously structured to culminate in real-world applications, ensuring participants are tested and proven under actual field conditions. Proving Grounds: Our state-of-the-art proving grounds in Ida-Virumaa are a cornerstone of our training methodology, replicating battlefield conditions to test and perfect drone operations. This environment allows for a comprehensive evaluation of UAV endurance, navigation capabilities, and tactical utility, preparing our graduates for any operational scenario. Impact and Vision: The establishment of BGWCE will catalyze economic growth, drive technological advancements, and foster innovation within Ida-Virumaa. Our goal is to transform the region into a beacon of defense training excellence, influencing global standards in tactical education and operations.

Come you didn't think the post wouldn't be a tad sardonic. Of course it's a post from Baltic Ghost Wing Center of Excellence or from our founder James Acuna. Happy "Festivus" to you and your family no matter where you are the world! #slavaukraina #2024 #newyear #drones

At Baltic Ghost Wing (yes, the real Baltic Ghost Wing — not some shadowy imitation), we thrive on bold ideas that move the needle, not just the conversation. Our proving grounds in Jõhvi and amphibious USV/UUV/UAS facility in Vehendi are where theory meets reality — and only the prepared survive. Ideas are easy; execution is rare. So, if you’ve got something to offer, bring it with purpose. Don’t be the good idea fairy, flitting in with sparkle and no substance. Respect the process. Respect our time. Think deeply. Act deliberately. #uas #cuas #testing #training #estonia

🚀 “Non-profit? Nah, try FOR-PROFIT with a side of results.” 🚀 Attention all dreamers, schemers, and drone believers — we LOVE your wild designs, futuristic concepts, and “game-changers” (you know who you are). Bring ‘em on. We’ll test them. We’ll help you plan. We might even tell you your baby is ugly (politely, of course). But here’s the deal: We’re NOT a non-profit. Not even close. No bake sales. No “exposure bucks.” No “backend points” on your 2030 IPO dreams. This is the Baltic Ghost Wing Center of Excellence, and our excellence isn’t free. If you want real feedback from a team that actually knows what they’re doing, we’re happy to help — just know there’s an invoice coming with it. 💡 Pay now, fly better later. 💡 Because “equity for services” doesn’t fuel drones. Got something worth testing? Let’s talk. If not, we’ll see you at the next non-profit bake sale. 🍪 #Drones #UAS #Testing #Innovation #ForProfitNotFree

If you're scared so you're scared. While the west "contemplates" what is to be, or we are breaking out the champagne and congratulating ourselves for a job errr "well done", China continues to listen and learn from the war in Ukraine. Both sides have consistently used commercial drones such as the DJI Mavic for call for fires or artillery ranging. Why not just include it with your tanks? China just did. #drones #china #ukraine #war

Did you know we can arrange this in the EU? Inquire within! #EW#drones
⚡ Ukrainian FPV drone tests conducted under counter-EW conditions During the DEMO DAY organized by the Brave1 cluster with the support of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Andrii Lebedenko, 20 teams of Ukrainian developers showcased their advancements in FPV drone technology. The testing scenario involved drones flying a 6-kilometer distance under active electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures, with the goal of hitting a designated target. These trials allowed the drones to demonstrate their level of resistance to EW interference, which is particularly critical given the enemy’s active use of electronic warfare systems on the frontline. Representatives of Ukraine's Security and Defense Forces attended the tests to assess the drones’ readiness for the modern realities of warfare. We continue working on advancing Ukrainian drones!

"Help us build the ultimate UAV slang dictionary!" Drone pilots, fighter pilots, and aviation enthusiasts – share your favorite slang in the comments! Whether it’s something you use in the field or a term you’ve overheard, let’s crowdsource the evolving language of the skies. The skies may be the same, but the lingo is changing. Fighter pilots have long had their colorful jargon – "bogeys" for unidentified aircraft, "Fox Three" for firing a missile, and "punching out" when ejecting from their jets. But today’s drone pilots are adding their own flavor to the language of the air. Here are some examples of drone pilot slang making waves: "Stick Time": Hours spent on the controls, much like fighter pilots log their cockpit time. "Deadstick": A loss of power, leading to a crash – the drone equivalent of a fighter’s "flameout." "Sky Sniper": A highly precise drone operator. "Flyaway": When a drone loses control and veers off course. "Deadzone": The unresponsive range of a joystick or control input, where fine movements don't register – a frustration for precision pilots. "BLOS": Beyond Line of Sight missions, highlighting the remote nature of operations. Now compare this to classic fighter pilot slang: "Bingo Fuel": Low on fuel (or for drones, low on battery). "Check Six": Watch your back—drone operators might say "360 Scan." "Winchester": Out of weapons, or for drone ops, "Empty Payload." "Punch Out": Fighter pilots eject; drone pilots "Abandon Bird" when it’s lost. What’s Your Favorite Aviation Slang? Whether you're buzzing the field, fighting a joystick "deadzone," or calling "RTB," aviation slang captures the spirit and camaraderie of the skies. Drop your favorite terms, stories, or unique lingo in the comments, and let’s build this dictionary together! Let’s hear your ideas – and maybe we’ll all learn something new. ✈️ 🛸
