While the west "contemplates" what is to be, or we are breaking out the champagne and congratulating ourselves for a job errr "well done", China continues to listen and learn from the war in Ukraine. Both sides have consistently used commercial drones such as the DJI Mavic for call for fires or artillery ranging. Why not just include it with your tanks? Whether it’s something you use in the field or a term you’ve overheard, let’s crowdsource the evolving language of the skies. The skies may be the same, but the lingo is changing. Fighter pilots have long had their colorful jargon – "bogeys" for unidentified aircraft, "Fox Three" for firing a missile, and "punching out" when ejecting from their jets. But today’s drone pilots are adding their own flavor to the language of the air. Here are some examples of drone pilot slang making waves: "Stick Time": Hours spent on the controls, much like fighter pilots log their cockpit time. "Deadstick": A loss of power, leading to a crash – the drone equivalent of a fighter’s "flameout." "Sky Sniper": A highly precise drone operator. "Flyaway": When a drone loses control and veers off course.
