The Bank’s AVP - Community Development Officer, Rita Joyce was the recipient of the inaugural Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 Athena Awards! 🤩 Rita exemplifies what it means to be a committed community member throughout the region and is a dedicated professional. Rita works from the Peters Creek Office and will move to the Bank’s Melrose Plaza Office, once it opens in early 2025. She is active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors for VA Cares and had an extensive membership in the Greater Williamson Road Area Business Association. She previously served on the Board of Total Action for Progress (TAP) for 9 years. After the tragic loss of her son, Joey, Rita led herself and other mothers who had been impacted by senseless acts of gun violence to establish a non-profit called FEDUP, or Families Expecting Deliverance Using Prayer. This not-for-profit organization provides resources, support groups, and prayers to the families that have experienced the loss of a loved one due to gun violence.
