Join us in congratulating Rose Figueroa, PhD, CHFP - Vice President of the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE)’s Board of Directors. The HFES - Human Factors and Ergonomics Society—awarded her the Inclusion for Service Inaugural Award last week at #ASPIRE24. According to #HFES, this award is presented in recognition of her outstanding contributions to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice in the human factors and ergonomics (HF/E) field and to HFES itself throughout the years.This is something #BCPE has witnessed first hand as well. Dr. Figueroa consistently advocates for DEI, especially within the HF/E community, and she leads by example. She readily leverages her network and serves as a bridge to connect anyone, but especially people from minoritized communities to amplify their voices and contributions. She also constantly serves as a mentor to any student and early career professional, and constantly gives back to the HF/E community. Join us in extending a warm welcome to the newest members to our Board of Directors, Thomas Rowell, MS, CPE, LSSGB and Dr. Maggie Jiao Ma. With 35 years of experience, Thomas Rowell, MS, CPE, LSSGB began his career at IBM, focusing on ergonomics for over 10,000 employees. His expertise includes workplace evaluations and ergonomics training. He holds a master’s in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and currently runs a consulting practice. He is also currently involved in planning the IISE/Applied Ergonomics Conference and serves as a liaison between HFES - Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and Applied Ergonomics Society. Dr. Maggie Jiao Ma, CHFP is a Technical Fellow at Boeing. Dr. Ma is a leader in aviation safety, developing programs with airlines and manufacturers. She focuses on enhancing safety through Mixed Reality technologies and holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering/Human Factors Engineering from University at Buffalo/SUNY Buffalo State Graduate School. She has received multiple accolades, including recognition as a Fellow by the Royal Aeronautical Society in 2023.

Join us in congratulating Denny Yu, a member of Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE)'s Board of Directors, who was honored with the Outstanding Educator Award at the Twenty Second Triennial Congress of the IEA (#IEA2024) earlier this month. In addition to these awards, Dr. Yu also received a Fulbright Award to conduct research and co-instruct courses on human factors engineering and medical technologies at the Management Center Innsbruck in 2024.

Attending IEA's 22nd Triennial Congress of the International Ergonomics Association 2024 next week in Jeju, South Korea?
