It was an honor to be invited to Stowe Electric Department (SED) for USDA Rural Development’s $78.3M Powering Affordable Clean Energy (PACE) announcement, including a $6 million investment in Stowe to develop small hydroelectric and solar facilities with a backup battery energy storage system. Beneficial Electrification League supported this funding application, and dozens of projects like this all across the country - most of which are now just breaking ground. A huge congrats to SED’s fantastic General Manager Jackie Pratt, and to Michael Lazorchak and the SED team. It’s also great to see the USDA Administration in action - I caught Christopher McLean and Andy Berke (a couple of the hardest workers in the energy business) and Jackie for the photo. To many more awards and future ribbon cuttings!

Thank you, New England, for another outstanding Beneficial Electrification League Electrification Leadership Summit! I’m continually impressed by the innovative programs and ideas emerging from community-owned utilities, non-profits, community power coalitions, and joint action agencies across the region. It was a pleasure seeing so many familiar faces and I can't thank our speakers Ken Nolan, Brian Callnan, Craig Spinale, Matt Casale, Quentin Palfrey, Patrick Collins, Mark Scribner, Dani Taylor, Benjamin Thivierge, Christopher Haringa, Katelyn L., Jeff Luoma, Emily Levin, Jackie Pratt, Marty Berry, and Matthew Millard enough for sharing all their wisdom with the crowd. Special thanks to Mike Hyland and the staff of the Northeast Public Power Association (NEPPA) for hosting! #electrification, #utilities, #leadership, #electric, #beneficialelectrification

Another fantastic Electrify MN event in the books! A few words and a few pictures cannot do justice to the time, commitment, insights, and collaboration of the 140+ electrification leaders and students in attendance. There are so many people working hard to benefit consumers by bringing the increasing benefits of technology - I can’t help but be optimistic that we will continue to see the results of this hard work. Thanks to Beneficial Electrification League sponsors and hosts NRTC, Wells Fargo, Great River Energy, Minnesota Rural Electric Association, Milwaukee Tool, and Humphrey School of Public Affairs at University of Minnesota.

I’m happy to announce that I will be a speaker at Groundswell’s #2024RuralRenaissanceRoad show this November. Hope you can join us for a great panel discussion. BEL continues to envision a future where electrification is broadly implemented when beneficial to drive economic development, meet consumer needs, and achieve environmental goals. I’ll be sharing our successful project in rural Georgia as part of Solutions for Rural Housing Equity. It echos how weatherization pairs well with electrification to benefit consumers and the environment. BEL is thrilled that the RESIST Disruptions project, a collaborative project of six-cooperatives led by Delaware County Electric Cooperative, Inc., has been selected to move forward with $28M of funding from DOE. The project will help strengthen the electric grid as invasive species, such as the Emerald Ash Borer Beetle, have increased the outages and damage from storms. The project will largely benefit northern portions of Appalachia in PA and NY as well as rural portions of NJ. We are grateful for the support of Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) that provided a planning grant to develop the project concept. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/eZ9hu2ad
