In 2022, we had a privilege to partner with 🦍 Gorilla - Energy data applications, a company redefining how energy retailers operate through the power of data. From my first conversations with the team, it was evident that Gorilla wasn’t merely building another tech platform and searching for a problem to solve — it was already solving fundamental challenges for an industry at the heart of the global race to net zero🌿. Fast forward two years, and my excitement about Gorilla’s potential has only deepened. It is time to reflect on the success of their €23m Series B led by our friends at Headline (Jonathan, Kiran 🙌) earlier this year, with continuous support from PMV (Lieven 🙌) and us at Beringea. Today marks 30 years since then-Chancellor Ken Clarke introduced Venture Capital Trusts (VCTs) to Parliament in November 1994. VCTs have since grown into a cornerstone of the UK’s investment landscape, providing essential financial support to the nation’s most forward-thinking businesses, creating stable jobs, and managing a significant amount of patient capital:   🟦 Since 2016, VCTA members have invested an impressive £3.6 billion. 🟦 Over 106,000 people are currently employed by VCT-backed businesses. 🟦 VCTs manage over £6.5bn in assets, demonstrating the scale and significance of the VCT industry in supporting the UK's entrepreneurial ecosystem.
