Today, we are celebrating some wonderful news! Edmonton has once again earned the top spot in the Canadian Home Builders' Association National Municipal Benchmarking Study for approval processes, timelines, and government charges across 23 Canadian municipalities. Our Board Chair, Katrina Rowe, and Board Member, Henry Edgar, highlighted the power of collaboration between the public and private sectors to shape policy, support housing, preserve our affordability, and attract talent and investment. Read the report: https://lnkd.in/gb9QTtUz “While we are a city that constantly strives for excellence and pushes the boundaries of what’s possible, it’s important to take a moment to celebrate when we achieve something significant,” said Rowe. “Let’s celebrate but also keep our focus on continuing to lead and shape Edmonton into a place that welcomes Canadians from across the country and beyond.” Katrina Rowe, along with the City of Edmonton’s Deputy City Manager, Kim Petrin, shared their insights on what it takes to maintain our top spot, unlock development opportunities, preserve affordability, foster growth, and create diverse, vibrant neighborhoods with a range of housing options: https://lnkd.in/gCnSZtqm Thank you Autograph and The Mercury Block for hosting us!

“It’s like going to a restaurant, and there are 45 things on the menu. You probably are going to order just three things, not take little bites out of 45 different menu items...You can’t have everything all at once," said Kalen Anderson when referring to the Dunluce Experiment — a neighbourhood and alley renewal plan that has quickly become an issue for Edmontonians; or, as author Steven Sandor explains it: "A downright nasty battle between residents and City Hall." We'll be downtown tomorrow discussing this, but in the meantime, read our position letter here: https://lnkd.in/ge_fcd9h Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gZGXtVaA

Every year, we collaborate with a non-profit organization to revitalize and enhance their space! Our Renovation Committee, along with the Renovation Project Committee, unites volunteers, donors, and sponsors to give back through much-needed space upgrades. Last year, we had the privilege of partnering with Amy's House, a place that offers comfort and support for individuals traveling long distances for cancer treatments. We were able to provide a complete space transformation to help further their incredible mission. This year, we’re seeking suggestions from our members for a non-profit organization to partner with! If you have an organization in mind that could benefit from our renovation efforts, please send your ideas to info@bildedmonton.com. Or, if you're interested in supporting or partnering with us, explore our Sponsorship Guide below for exciting opportunities to get involved! https://lnkd.in/g7MEVJT4

We are excited about the signing of the MOU today between the Government of Alberta and the City of Edmonton, solidifying their commitment to Downtown Edmonton. This marks a major milestone in the development of the OEG Inc. Fan Park and Village at Ice District. This transformative project will bring together sports, recreation, entertainment, and housing in one dynamic space. It will stimulate $408.2 million in investment from the Province, City, and OEG, while also delivering 2,500 new units of diverse housing. This announcement is a key action we’ve advocated for through the Downtown Investment Plan, alongside many of our valued partners. Today, we also shared our position letter with Mayor Amarjeet Sohi and Council, outlining our support for the Capital City Downtown Community Revitalization Levy Extension, which will be essential for realizing this important project. In this Lauren Boothby article, our CEO, Kalen Anderson, who led the development of Edmonton's City Plan, shares valuable insights on how our city stands out in its policies and processes, and the pivotal role both the public and private sectors play in driving growth and attracting new residents. “Edmonton is a city that is built for real life … more and more people are realizing real life is what’s in highest demand. You can feel financially secure, you can have a good job.” Kalen describes Edmonton as scrappy and results-driven. In fact, residential development and building permits have surged by 50% from 2023 to 2024, underscoring the significant impact of our efforts. She believes these accomplishments demonstrate the city's remarkable progress and success. https://lnkd.in/gTvU--qR
