Pay disparity devalues the dedication of #BlackTeachers, deepening financial inequities and making it harder to recruit and retain the leaders all students need to thrive. A new Rand Corp survey confirms what we already know—Black educators are more likely to earn less than their white counterparts, with nearly half citing pay disparity as a source of job-related stress. Racial affinity spaces are transformative tools for #equity and justice, fostering the community-building needed to organize for liberation and the emotional safety to co-imagine and work toward it. Creating and facilitating these spaces thoughtfully requires skill and intention.
