Here is a testimonial of one of our Chicago ELF fellows, "I really appreciated the equity focus because I've been trying to learn about ways to lead in a way that matches my values." One of our goals for this program is to build up values-based leaders, who can then take those values of anti-racism and apply them thoughtfully in their own nonprofit context, shaping the direction of the sector. #nonprofit #notforprofit #nonprofitprofessionaldevelopment #professionaldevelopment #EmergingLeadersFellowship #Alternatives #Alternatives Youth #Illinoisnonprofit #illinois

In the nonprofit sector, it can often be difficult to see beyond the current year. The next set of grant applications or the newest legislators can change course of the organization from year to year. One of the courses in our Public Service Administration bachelor’s degree is Strategic Leadership in Public Service Organizations. This course helps students see beyond the struggles of the day to day to build the skills and vision necessary to lead a non-profit into the next decade. To start the course, Chet Roshetko asks the question “where do you want to be in 30 years and how will you get there?” Students then write an obituary for themselves and their organization to help answer this question.
