Students frequently ask me how I know so many details about the history of the concert music business. (I'm teaching at the Frost School of Music UM this semester in the Live Entertainment Master's program the very extensive course, Concert Tour Management.) Well I have to admit, I am currently re-reading Ticket Masters - The Rise of The Concert Industry and How The Public Got Scalped. This is a book for music business people to geek-out on. If you are a music business nerd, as I sometimes am, this is one of the few books I revisit from time to time and always gain new perspective as to how the concert business has arrived to where we are today. Although the book is not a light read by the beach, it is an in-depth look at the key players, the artists, the promoters, and the opportunists that have shaped the live music business world in which music fans live. #musicbusiness ~ Comment please. Astronauts are now using Virtual Reality headsets to enhance their experience aboard the International Space Station. The integration of VR technology with an updated stationary bike allows the crew to cycle through their favorite routes on Earth while working out in low Earth orbit. This adds a touch of familiarity to their daily routines, and helps combat feelings of isolation, enhancing mental well-being during long expeditions in space. "It's actually one of my absolute favorite activities on board the space station," said Denmark's Andreas Mogensen, shown in this clip. The VR headsets on the ISS are part of a broader initiative to leverage technology for various purposes, like encouraging exercise, assisting in maintenance tasks, and providing immersive experiences for astronauts. Technology like this is important for mental health and performance in the unique environment on the ISS, and in this case, demonstrates how VR can bridge the gap between life in space and the familiar landscapes of Earth. #SpaceStationSaturday

AI to cure cancer? Not as crazy as it sounds - and could justify eye-watering valuations. Already AI has proven more adept than humans at identifying cancers. The next significant evolution will be AI-driven smart chemo. The triangulation of technology, biology and chemistry in the form of Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) medicines is going to revolutionise the treatment of cancer. Smart chemo can be used earlier in treatment plans, is more targeted and therefore less harmful to non-target cells. It can also be used in combination with other therapeutic approaches. As the chart below shows, ADC trials have rocketed in recent years and a recent report by Morgan Stanley suggested that smart chemo will drive revenues of more than $140bn by the end of the decade and - more importantly - a dramatic step-down in cancer mortality. As the only non-doctor in my family, I'm particularly fascinated by this latest evidence of how AI will change our world.
