Celebrating Disability Pride Month! Honoring the resilience, strength, and diversity of adults with disabilities. This month commemorates the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990, a landmark law that championed disability rights. While we celebrate the progress made, we recognize that more work is needed to ensure true equity and inclusion. Blue Heron is proud to support participants in gaining skills and employment to support them in self empowerment and independence.

Nothing about us without us! On Tuesday we got the opportunity to support participants in advocating for funding for services. It was amazing to see other programs like Blue Heron as well. California will be unable to take planned steps to improve disability services such as: ⏺ Attract high-quality disability services support professionals by offering competitive wages and benefits ⏺ Improve life for developmentally disabled adults and their families by improving access to appropriate housing options, transportation, respite care, and individualized programming through California’s regional centers. Providing funding for disability services and programs provides benefits to the entire community. Education and job training allow individuals with disabilities to hold rewarding jobs that offer sustainable income.
