🌊 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 🌡️ While #seaweed is often celebrated as part of the solution to rising CO₂ levels, it is also facing significant challenges due to climate change 🌍 As the seaweed farming industry in Europe grows, scientists from our Scottish partner, the Scottish Association For Marine Science (SAMS), warn that seaweeds thriving in the North Atlantic’s cooler coastal waters could struggle to survive over the next 50 years. Rising ocean temperatures, increased storm activity, and fluctuating salinity levels pose severe risks to these species 🌡️ However, with the right investment in seaweed farming #research and #innovation, building #resilience within this essential industry is possible.
