Það ættu ekki að vera forréttindi fárra að hafa aðgengi að hreinni orku🔋 Þetta verkefni í prófunum á djúpnýtingu jarðvarma gæti skapað aðgengi allra heimshorna að jarðhita og/eða rafmagni, eins og Davíð sagði: „Flestir jarðarbúar hafa gríðarlegt magn hreinnar orku undir fótum sér, bókstaflega. Við viljum stuðla að því að hægt sé að nýta þá orku í meira mæli en nú er og mæta þannig aukinni orkueftirspurn heimsins á grænan og sjálfbæran hátt“🔆
Orkuveitan, Transition Labs og Clean Air Task Force hafa skrifað undir viljayfirlýsingu um þróun á tækni til djúpnýtingar á jarðvarma og prófunum hér á landi. Miklar vonir eru bundnar við að slík nýting geti leitt til aukins orkuöryggis og orkusjálfstæðis víða um heim. 🌋 ⚡ „Þróun á djúpnýtingu er mikilvægt framfaraskref fyrir nýtingu jarðvarma á heimsvísu sérstaklega á svæðum þar sem jarðvarmi hefur ekki verið nýtanlegur til þessa.“ segir Hera Grimsdottir framkvæmdastýra Rannsókn og nýsköpunar hjá Orkuveitunni. „Það sem við vonumst til með þessu þróunarverkefni á Íslandi er að geta skapað vegvísi til að koma á fót alþjóðlegum prófunarstöðvum fyrir djúpnýtingu,” segir Terra Rogers forstöðukona djúpnýtingar hjá CATF. „Flestir jarðarbúar hafa gríðarlegt magn hreinnar orku undir fótum sér, bókstaflega. Við viljum stuðla að því að hægt sé að nýta þá orku í meira mæli en nú er og mæta þannig aukinni orkueftirspurn heimsins á grænan og sjálfbæran hátt“ segir David Helgason, stjórnarformaður Transition Labs. #orka #rannsóknir #nýsköpun #sjálfbærni #aflvaki
