🌟 In with the new, but remembering the old: Barstow yard bridge 🚆 Our Barstow, California yard is a critical hub for us, but it was beginning to show its age, including the North First Avenue Bridge. The truss bridge from the 1930s spanned 11 tracks, including three on our busy Southern Transcon route. A plan to demolish and replace the bridge with a modern concrete bridge was approved, with construction starting in 2023. The new bridge was completed and opened in July 2024. The century-old bridge is gone, but the city kept half a truss span as a remembrance. It features a retaining wall with a depiction of the old bridge, and two BNSF predecessor locomotives. #freight #rail #infrastructure #BarstowCA

Some of Santa’s helpers work at BNSF’s Fort Worth, Texas, headquarters, and since 1997, they’ve helped fill holiday needs and wishes. This year, they adopted 300 Salvation Army Angel Tree angels and collected more than 2,100 gifts for them. The gifts are being distributed to local children and seniors so they can share in the joy of Christmas. J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. also helped spread the holiday cheer, by generously donating a truck to transport gifts to the Salvation Army warehouse. Teams from different departments, including Network Development in Service Design and another from Labor Relations, helped at the Salvation Army warehouse. One group from our dispatcher team continued a decade-long tradition by helping sort donations into labeled boxes. Not only does the experience bring the teams closer, it’s also their way of giving back to the community. #communityinvolvement #volunteering #HappyHolidays

🚀 Crossing into the future: San Bernardino’s new bridge over railyard🚗 In 1934, the Mount Vernon Avenue Bridge opened to the San Bernadino, California, community, providing a vital link between the north and south sides of the city. The bridge also spanned BNSF’s intermodal facility, one of our busiest. Given the bridge’s age, funding was secured from sources including the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority, and a plan was developed to replace it. Careful coordination was essential, because the bridge spans multiple yard, storage and mainline tracks. Construction began this year, and the new bridge is scheduled to be completed in August 2025. #freight #rail #infrastructure #SanBernardinoCA
