About us
BNSF Railway operates one of the largest railroad networks in North America, with about 32,500 route miles in 28 states and three Canadian provinces. The railway is among the world's top transporters of intermodal traffic, serves more grain-producing regions than any other railroad, and transports the components of many of the products we depend on daily. BNSF Railway is an Equal Opportunity Employer Minorities/Women/Veterans/Disabled. On Feb. 12, 2010, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation was acquired by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK)

After nearly 46 years of service, Arvid (Arv) Witikko has retired from BNSF. His length of service is made all the more impressive by the fact that it was injury-free! Witikko, a locomotive engineer on our Twin Cities Division, made his last trip – from Beulah to Mandan, North Dakota – on Jan. 2. “Arv has been a great employee and friend and will be missed,” said Trainmaster Jim Reidy. “He was the type to always go above and beyond doing what’s right.” General Manager Matt Denham said, “Arv had a tremendous impact for our customers and communities in the area. He will be missed and we wish him all the best in a well-deserved retirement.”
