🌍 Introducing BOOST-IN’s Regions of Opportunities! 🔍 Our third region of focus? ✅ Lower Saxony, Germany – where Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin is at the forefront of identifying innovative WACES (Water Circular Economy Solutions) for nutrient and energy recovery from municipal wastewater. ❓ Why Lower Saxony? Despite local nutrient deficits, the region faces a nitrogen surplus due to significant inputs of organic fertilisers like manure and sewage sludge. With escalating energy and fertiliser costs and a national mandate requiring phosphorus recovery from sludge by 2029, the region is ripe for transformative Circular Economy solutions. 💡 What makes this region unique? An established network of stakeholders, including utilities, fertiliser distributors, farmers, water and agricultural authorities, and R&D entities. ✨ Last week, during the Expo AgriTech, our project coordinator Angela Magno Malagón gave a speech in the demo room, where she delved into the goals of BOOST-IN and what we're accomplishing so far. 📺BIOAZUL had a stand within the innovative projects zone, where partners presented the BOOST-IN eu #WACES solutions to address key challenges related to water scarcity and management. During this phase, we are working on the characterisation and mapping of innovations, a crucial step to ensure that the selected solutions have a significant impact on the target regions. 🤝 The best thing about the event was #connecting with so many people interested not only in BOOST-IN, but also in the experience that BIOAZUL has in the design and execution of innovative projects.
