Fourteen additional states and the District of Columbia have received $15 million in grants from Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to plan for implementation of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (#CCBHC) model. This funding will help increase access to essential services, including crisis care, mobile response teams, and integrated mental health treatment, showcasing its transformative impact on communities nationwide. We were thrilled to attend the soft launch tonight of the “take the pledge” campaign aimed at enlisting Black-owned businesses in spreading awareness about rising opioid use in Black and Brown communities. Organizations and businesses that take the pledge will receive Narcan, among other supports that can help employees and clients/customers alike. This partnership with Dr. Ronald W. Whitaker II of Mother African Union Church and Ayanna Khan, M.S. of the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce funded by our Health Equity Advancement Initiative is expanding our reach to communities of color in Delaware. We are only two weeks out from the Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women With Opioid Use Disorder and Their Infants training on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 8:15am - 5:00pm. This interactive training provides comprehensive, evidence-based information for the optimal management of pregnant and parenting people with opioid use disorder (OUD) and their infants. Course faculty include nationally recognized experts in perinatal care and substance use disorder treatment. The training will also feature a mid-day Town Hall focused on Delaware. Town Hall panelists will include Delaware Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance (DMMA) leadership, physicians (adult and pediatric), a psychiatrist, advance practice nurses, and others working in Delaware to provide high-quality, equitable care for pregnant and parenting people with OUD and their infants. Attendees will learn about State and local efforts to incorporate clinical best practices into care for this population.
