Celebrating 25 Years of Giving Back! For the past 25 years, I've had the incredible honor of leading this Christmas Day event with my father, Edward Weiner, Ph.D., in collaboration with Bread of Life. When we first started, delivering 100 meals felt like a huge accomplishment. This year, thanks to the hard work of 150+ volunteers, including many of my amazing Sanofi co-workers, we delivered over 900 meals right to the doors of those in need across a dozen cities and towns north of Boston! Reflecting on how far we've come fills me with immense pride and gratitude. A heartfelt thank you to Bryna Misiura and her family for their tireless work managing meal requests and deliveries. Over the years, I've shared this event on LinkedIn, always encouraging everyone to find their own way to give back. Seeing so many friends, colleagues, and connections step up and share their stories of giving back is truly inspiring. I also want to extend my deepest thanks to the Kitchen Staff at Malden Public Schools High School for their incredible support and use of their facility, Malden Mayor Gary Christenson, and all the volunteers who dedicated their time throughout the week and on Christmas Day. We couldn't have done this without the generous donations from countless individuals and businesses, including The Jewelers Circle, the Levy Family, CMBG3 Law, Wayne Alarm, the Andrews Family, Costco Wholesale of Everett & Waltham, Hoff's Bakery , and Flowers Foods & Subsidiaries. For more details, check out this inspiring news article: https://lnkd.in/er_hMvth Here's to many more years of giving back and making a difference!

  • We have great community partners! Watch Patty from Bread of Life, Lisa from Mystic Valley Elder Services and Molly from Housing Families as they discussed the work of each organization and ways we collaborate. Thank you to our great friend, Judie VanKooiman from Those Who Can, For Those In Need for having us on your show and Wcat Winthrop Community Access Television for hosting!

Like many people in the nonprofit world, we could talk shop about #NonprofitLife all day! So we were excited when Judie VanKooiman invited our CEO, Lisa Gurgone, to be one of the guests on an episode of her show “Life Issues” on WINTHROP COMMUNITY ACCESS TELEVISION. Our fellow guests were Molly Abrahamson from Housing Families and Patty Kelly from Bread of Life, two organizations that MVES often collaborates with, so it was great to discuss the #PowerOfPartnership. We also delved into how each group serves the community and its residents. Check out the segment at the link below! Thanks to Judie, WCAT and our fellow guests. https://lnkd.in/eQrhaKQ2#StrongerTogether #community #winthrop #winthropMA #MysticValley #GreaterBoston #BeTheChange #MVES

  • Please consider an End of Year donation to Bread of Life. Read more about your impact: Bread of Life's mission is "Food for the body...Nurture for the soul." The core of our strength is that we build our work on the fundamental truth that every human being has the right to food. Many sectors of our communities are drawn to us - businesses, schools, civic organizations, government entities, and faith groups - because we can all agree on this truth. It supersedes debates about immigration, social programs and economic policies. It cuts through distinctions of race, class, culture, language, religion and age. The United States is one of the world's four dominant food-producing countries, along with China, India and Brazil. And yet, 34% of Massachusetts households were food insecure last year, meaning they reported running out of food or not having enough money to buy it every month, according to the Greater Boston Food Bank's 2024 annual report "Food Access in Massachusetts”. Hunger is not a problem facing just those in poverty. It is also a challenge faced by working and "middle-class" neighbors. With your help, Bread of Life leads the fight against hunger by distributing 1.5 million pounds of food each year to our struggling neighbors, and as we settle in at our new facility, we anticipate serving many more families. Our power is the passion, faith and action of hundreds of supporters like you: volunteers, financial supporters and partner organizations who can very well agree with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, "I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits." YOU make Bread of Life a powerhouse in our community. Your continued support is the power that ensures families and children are well nourished in body and soul. Thank you for your continued partnership and friendship. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/e8HVuVRw
