We are a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to improve our systems of democracy and justice.
About us
The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that works to reform, revitalize – and when necessary, defend – our country's systems of democracy and justice. At this critical moment, the Brennan Center is dedicated to protecting the rule of law and the values of Constitutional democracy. We focus on voting rights, campaign finance reform, ending mass incarceration, and preserving our liberties while also maintaining our national security. Part think tank, part advocacy group, part cutting-edge communications hub, we start with rigorous research. We craft innovative policies. And we fight for them – in Congress and the states, the courts, and in the court of public opinion.

"Our American system of government is written into the Constitution, and it is the underlying and supreme body of law that is superior to any laws passed by Congress or by executive actions. The Constitution is also much harder to change and therefore less subject to the political whims of one leader or one moment." — Douglas Keith in Salon https://lnkd.in/ej48cGRb

"One of the most important things that the courts do is ensure that the executive branch does not take more power than it is allowed under the Constitution. ... We need to ensure that the courts are willing and able to play that role and that the other branches actually listen to the courts." — Douglas Keith in Salon https://bit.ly/3CHHl8K

Brennan Center for Justice reposted this
As the Trump administration pulls back on election security, shutting down government Task Forces, and placing key election security staff on administrative leave, it's clear that we may not have federal regulation to safeguard our elections or democracy from misuse of AI anytime soon. But there is plenty states can do. The Brennan Center just released an agenda with some ideas.
