How do geckos stick to all kinds of surfaces, allowing them to run up walls and trees? How does nature make durable materials, like corals, without heat? And how do peacock feathers get their beautiful colors? NPR's The Pulse podcast explores these questions and more in their recent episode about biomimicry, featuring our Co-founder Janine Benyus and other experts in the field.

  • How to cultivate joy as a way to feel the fullness of life? A joy that comes from us, from a clear consciousness, from fulfilling our obligations and commitments, and that vibrates despite our feelings? Taking account of what life means to you and what your priorities are? Looking within for clues? Or still only relying on external wisdom? How about weaving the two? The closing of a cycle and the beginning of a new one is often an auspicious moment for reflecting on what it is that we are conserving as we live day-to-day. The moments of joy may be enhanced by nurturing what truly leads to them. And these elements are not coming from the noise and confusion out there, constantly enticing us, but from a clear sense of purpose and consistent good practice of “being” before “doing”. Ready for the quest in 2025? Let’s connect with what really matters and dance to the music of life! Count on Briyah to help! https://lnkd.in/eHhw3UT7 #innovation #practice #purpose #leadership #systemsthinking

I’ve launched Quitting Corp: a project to help people—including me!—design a work life we can fall in love with. 🟨 quittingcorp.substack.com The first part of the project is about me. After 12 years at Google and countless lessons learned, I’m making the big leap—to be my own boss, to write about what I know, and dive into learning what I don’t. The second part, if you are interested, is about you. It’s not just about leaving a job. It’s breaking free from the dullness of feeling trapped, uninspired, and disconnected—without burning everything down in the process. In the first three posts, I’ve shared: 🟩 How 'Quitting Corp' takes a mindset shift 🟦 How I got here 🟨 How to build your ‘quest for progress’ I will still be at Google for a bit longer. As I move on, I'm letting daily curiosity guide me through this transition—and I'm loving writing again. Here’s to making work work for us. 🌱 Subscribe for free to join the conversation, share your thoughts, or start your own journey.

  • Miami is hosting a series of events this week, most focusing on art, and others raising awareness of other important topics for humanity, such as #Regeneration. What does #AI have to do with this topic? The first panel of the day was on AI & The Future of Wellbeing with Dr. Deepak Chopra MD (official) and Poonacha Machaiah (THE CHOPRA FOUNDATION, Cyberhuman.ai) and moderator Tony Cho (FoCities, ChoZen) #leadership #innovation #practice #purpose

  • Those who participate in Briyah’s signature #leadership program called “CEO Meet & Master (#CMM)” get a taste of Donella Meadows’s best practices, and learn that we can’t control systems, but we can dance with them. What does she mean by “dancing with systems”? First, you get the beat: watch the system work, learn its history, listen to the people who’ve been around a long time to tell you what has happened, understand the behavior of the system’s forces, look for its #dynamics. Secondly, listen to the #wisdom of the system: before doing anything, pay attention to the value of what’s already there. Thirdly, expose your mental models to the open air: Invite others to #challenge your assumptions, to add their own, collect explanations, consider all of them plausible until you find evidence that causes you to rule one out, and become emotionally able to see which assumption might have confused your own identity. As she explains so well in her book “Thinking in Systems: a Primer” keep going until you get to “the edge of what analysis can do and then point beyond–to what can and must be done by the human spirit.” Let’s #thinkwise! Here is a good article to get started: https://lnkd.in/eQKHDe_n For the opportunity to practice together with other leaders from around the world, join us for cohort 18 starting on January 13th, 2025: https://lnkd.in/eHhw3UT7. We look forward to seeing you there! #innovation #practice #purpose #leadership #systemsthinking

Time is a currency. Time is a luxury. And time doesn’t operate linearly. Time goes off in multiple directions; and it’s compression will affect many different facets of our lives. In the industrial age, we measured time with clocks which gives us the impression that time is running forward. When viewed this way, time seems to have a duration - a linear trajectory 🕰️. But today, time has become more fluid, allowing us to exist in multiple dimensions. Time is melting much as it is in Dali’s paintings. This is a world of templosion - a concept that underpins almost all of what I lay out in AI + The New Human Frontier. How can we maximize and leverage time more effectively? How will templosion impact your long-term strategies? To learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g-EyQvfV #futureofAI #time #strategicforesight
