📢 BUILDSPACE partners continue to disseminate project results! On February 6, the SingularLogic R&D team attended the DETAMITE Meetup event in Athens, Greece, which brought together researchers and professionals involved in EU-funded projects. The session was a great opportunity to showcase insights on the BUILDSPACE core platform, #dataspaces 📊, and the value of data, fostering meaningful discussions on innovation and collaboration. On February 21, the DSS Lab, EPU-NTUA team participated in the EU Climate Pact National Event in Athens, Greece. During the Session IV: Climate and Technology – Innovations for a Sustainable Future, focusing on how AI, #greentechnologies 🌿 and #digitalsolutions can address #climatechange, BUILDSPACE was presented, highlighting how the project actively shapes the future of climate resilience and sustainability. 🚀 Curious about BUILDSPACE Service 3? Carla Rodríguez Alonso, researcher at the Energy Division in CARTIF Technology Centre, recently presented the BUILDSPACE project and its SE3. Building Environment Climate Scenarios service at the “XIII Congreso Internacional de la AEC, Cambio Climático y Sociedad: de la Ciencia Básica a los Servicios Climáticos” (Climate Change and Society: from basic science to climate services), held on January 22, 2025. 💡During Session 09 “Development of Climate Services: Practicalities”, she showcased how SE3 estimates current and future #energydemand (heating, cooling and domestic hot water) of residential buildings under different climate scenarios for 2030, 2040 and 2050. How does SE3 work? 🔹It integrates urban (OpenStreetMap, Cadastre) and climatic data (historical from weather stations, Copernicus C3S). 🔹It offers interactive visualisation tools to support #urbanplanning and #energyefficiency strategies.  🔹It is implemented in Riga, Latvia, where the tool identifies priority areas for retrofitting and compares the impact of different adaptation measures under projected climate conditions. Exciting news from Pilot 4!🇸🇮 Project partner IMZI Blue-green Infrastructure Institute attended an awareness-raising and training event, hosted by the #urbanplanning company ELEAiC in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was a great opportunity to present BUILDSPACE and Service 5 (SE5). Urban Flood Resilience, together with the concept of nature-based solutions for blue-green infrastructure.💧🌿 💡 The discussion offered valuable feedback on the applicability and need for urban #floodresilience services and the use of #satellitedata for innovative solutions. The European Commission's National Building Renovation Plans set an ambitious path toward zero-emission buildings by 2050, aligning with the #EUGreenDeal. Indeed, the Plans aim to ensure the renovation of the national stock of residential and non-residential buildings into a highly energy-efficient and decarbonised building stock. According to the European Environment Agency, Europe has achieved a 24,5% share of #renewableenergy in final energy consumption. This is a significant step forward in aligning with the EU's #GreenDeal objectives of fostering #energy efficiency and sustainable energy adoption.💡🌿 But meeting the new minimum EU target of 42.5% for 2030 will require doubling of the renewable energy deployment rates of the last decade and profoundly transforming Europe's energy system. But how do we ensure this progress is sustained and accelerated? 🚨 The Global Climate Highlights 2024 report is now online! The Copernicus Climate Change Service (CS3) and Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) present the most critical climate data from 2024, which is confirmed to be the warmest year on record with an average global temperature 1.6℃ above pre-industrial level. 🌍🔥 Other global records were broken, especially in terms of greenhouse gas levels and both air and sea surface temperatures, contributing to extreme events including #floods, #heatwaves and #wildfires. Europe has been affected throughout the year by a range of precipitation events and numerous heatwaves. In this respect, BUILDSPACE is finalising two innovative services, which are: 🔹SE4. Urban Heat Analysis and Resilience. It will not only calculate the so-called urban heat risk and assess social vulnerability to heat, but also evaluate the impact of Urban Heat Island (UHI) and other microclimate phenomena on the #energy performance of buildings. 🔹SE5. Urban Flood Resilience.
