🎉 On Saturday, Business For Good received the Unsung Hero’s Award at the Neighborhood House Association’s 110th Anniversary Celebration, for our grassroots advocacy work throughout #SanDiego County🌟 We are deeply honored for the recognition and are proud to stand alongside NHA, one of the largest #nonprofit social service agencies in our region. We had a magical night with fellow award recipients Stedman Graham and Hip Hop Health and Wellness 5k, and were treated to a goosebump-worthy performance by Grammy-winning artist Andra Day. Since 1914, NHA has supported immigrant communities in San Diego with essential services including early childhood development, nutrition, health programs, mental health services, and more. If you, like NHA, see the value and impact of our grassroots advocacy work at Business For Good, please become a BFG member today. We can only keep going if we have the involvement and support of business owners and professionals like you, who believe impactful organizations like ours must continue to exist. 💚 Become a member: https://lnkd.in/gRKq4SAZ #BusinessForGoodSD #SanDiego #neighborhoodhouseassociation #sandiegobusiness

In case you missed the Responsible A.I. event we hosted at Conscious Capitalism San Diego with BBB Pacific Southwest, Central & Inland California… here are some of the takeaways: ✅ Aaron Elkins, the Director of the Center for AI Research at SDSU, reminded us that the technology is being crafted in our own image, and if we have a positive outlook on humanity, then we should maintain a positive outlook on AI… ✅ Tiffany ONeil, Director of Knowledge Management and Technology Innovation at Procopio, shared her perspective on the compliance and evolving regulatory landscape we all must keep in mind… ✅ Sylvester Raymond of JV Marketing Technologies explained the common pitfalls people fall into with any new technology, and emphasized the importance of advanced planning to mitigate costs and risk after development… And of course, our remarkable Keynote Speaker X. Eyeé introduced us to the inner workings of AI and its foundation of pattern recognition, gave specific examples of how generative AI is prone to bias and error, and urged us to be mindful of the constraints of the technology so that we’re sure it’s the right tool for the job. This is just the beginning of how we hope to highlight voices and ideas that have the potential to catalyze businesses looking to make an impact in San Diego. More to come! Thank you to our Community partners B Local San Diego, Cause San Diego, Business For Good San Diego, Naturally San Diego, for all helping to make this possible. Happy America Recycles Day! 🌎 If you made it to our Summit, you already know the infectious energy of Allgoods founders Lila Cleary-Stoner and Corey Cleary-Stoner (our amazing MCs who also kept our event clean and green with expert waste management!). But did you know their nonprofit is revolutionizing how we think about sustainability? As an environmental media company, Allgoods breaks down the barriers to sustainable living through art, entertainment, and advocacy that actually makes you want to tune in. Their approach? Make caring about our planet contagious through "casual guidance" (and yes, a healthy dose of fun). From managing waste at community events to creating progressive environmental projects, they're proving that putting our planet first doesn't have to feel overwhelming or preachy. We're proud to have members like Allgoods who are building innovative systems and fostering community while tackling serious environmental challenges. Because saving our blue and green rock? That's going to take all of us—and they're making it easier for everyone to start. 🌱 #BusinessForGoodSD #AmericaRecyclesDay #SustainableBusiness #SanDiegoBusiness

When purpose-driven business meets cutting-edge technology, amazing conversations happen. We were proud to partner with the BBB Pacific Southwest, Central & Inland California, Conscious Capitalism San Diego, and other community leaders for an evening focused on Responsible AI. Local business owners explored AI’s potential and its impact, all while staying true to our core values. The key takeaway? These technologies aren’t something to fear—they’re powerful tools we can harness. However, it’s our collective responsibility to actively shape policies that ensure these tools are used for the benefit of all. “Policy is not the regulation slower-downer like it’s being pitched in the news. It is the boundaries we put in place so that these innovations can bring us benefit without making us the guinea pigs of those systems. Policy comes into place by the collective decisions we make on a local level, on a state level, and a federal level.” - X. Eyeé Thanks to all our partners, panelists and attendees for helping spark these important discussions about using technology as a force for good in San Diego. Keynote Speaker: X. On November 7th, Business For Good joined in celebrating the achievements of the graduates of The Social Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) Program—an initiative funded by the State of California to empower vulnerable and underrepresented communities through entrepreneurial opportunities. The SEED program removes educational, lingual, and financial barriers by providing participants with a multilingual business and entrepreneurship curriculum delivered by trained business coaches from Ethnic-Based Community Organizations (EBCOs). In 2022, Business For Good partnered with LISC San Diego to help implement the SEED initiative here in San Diego County. BFG reached out to #MEHKO (micro-enterprise home kitchen operations) entrepreneurs—most of whom are at-home parents, caretakers, immigrants with limited English proficiency, and low-income individuals—in our community and helped them enroll in the program. There, BFG members provided our MEHKO cohorts with business education, technical support, mentorship, and assistance with applying for micro-grants, all of which helped make their entrepreneurial dreams a reality. Congratulations to all the SEED program graduates on this significant milestone! #BusinessForGoodSD
