About us
Overview The BUSINESS OF LIGHT is nonprofit (pending) 501c3 dedicated to lighting designers, lighting manufacturers, representatives, and lighting entrepreneurs with vision and drive but who also lack the critical business skills necessary to either grow and thrive in their existing situation or successfully launch a new enterprise. What inspired the Business of Light? Business of Light comes from a desire to honor the contributions of two recently retired lighting industry icons, Barbara Horton and Stephen Lees, who, at HLB Lighting Design, built a legacy as lighting design leaders who also developed a culture of business fundamentals to mentor the firm’s next generation. Inspired by the theme a rising tide lifts all boats a group of lighting industry luminaries have come together to inspire and champion the next generation of lighting firm leaders by developing educational programming focused on the Business of Light. BOL will provide the educational platform with expert consultants on relevant topics for leaders and emerging leaders to realize their full potential.
