The project, which deployed in September 2021, was supported by a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) award with the goal to demonstrate CalWave’s scalable xWave™ technology as a reliable, cost-effective solution for sustainable energy generation. With zero intervention and 99% system uptime, our fully autonomous, submerged xWave architecture has met (and exceeded) expectations for overcoming the key challenges of performance, reliability, survivability, and cost that have long-held the industry back. CalWave Co-Founder and CEO Marcus Lehmann joined panelists from CorPower Ocean, C-Power, Ocean Power Technologies, and ORPC last week during the California Energy Commission public workshop on #SB605. The outputs of SB605 will help guide the state of California on setting #marineenergy policy for years to come. Topics discussed during the panel included: 🌊 Using marine energy to balance out intermittent renewables to minimize total system costs, reduce costs for California ratepayers, and ensure #energyindependence ⚡ Setting a course to scale from open-ocean pilots to grid-connected arrays 🏗 Leveraging investments in the state's offshore wind infrastructure to more effectively scale the marine energy sector We would like to thank AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles for its contributions in advancing the marine energy sector in California, and we look forward to a continued dialogue with the CEC on building this crucial industry.

BREAKING: Marine energy bill proposes $1 billion investment for domestic industry The Marine Energy Technologies Acceleration Act, introduced in the U.S. House today by Representatives Nanette Barragán (CA-44) and Suzanne Bonamici (OR-01), could catalyze an era of significant growth for #marineenergy in the United States. This legislation aims to advance marine energy technologies toward widespread commercialization. By building a robust domestic marine energy industry, we can: 1️⃣ Provide consistent and predictable clean energy to coastal populations, reducing the need to overbuild transmission and energy storage infrastructure 2️⃣ Create high-paying jobs for thousands of Americans and position the United States as a global leader that exports, rather than imports, vital energy technologies 3️⃣ Close the gap to our 100 percent clean energy future “CalWave wholeheartedly supports the Marine Energy Technologies Acceleration Act," said Marcus Lehmann, CalWave co-founder and CEO.
