Foundation team members recently had the privilege of volunteering with Community Nursing Services (CNS) in Utah. They assembled personalized memorial ornaments for families who have lost loved ones. The heart-shaped ornaments are handmade by a local artist using a unique combination of colors, making each ornament one-of-a-kind. Cambia Health Foundation also sponsored the cost of the ornaments so they could be distributed at no cost to hundreds of families.

We’re honored to sponsor and be active participants at the Friends of the Children's National Board Meeting and the 30th Anniversary Gala. This meeting marked the conclusion of Foundation President Peggy Maguire’s board service with Friends of the Children; she now joins the emeritus board. The gala was a wonderful success with an inspiring program including special guest Simone Biles—World Champion gymnast and youth advocate. Read more about the event: https://lnkd.in/gqKZTuHA

Palliative care is often misunderstood. Many believe it's the same as hospice or end-of-life care. But in reality, palliative care is for anyone with a serious illness, at any stage. When palliative care is integrated with treatment, it can make a big difference for people with serious illness. By demystifying palliative care, we hope people will consider it as a valuable option for themselves or their loved ones.

Accessing mental health services is a challenge across Oregon. It’s one of the reasons we’ve prioritized investing in programs that help to expand, diversify and train the health care workforce. Cambia Health Foundation awarded a grant to the Oregon Child & Family Center for Excellence to help fund one such program at Sunset High School. If students get interested in behavioral health at a young age, it could help fill the health care workforce gap in the future. Watch this KGW-TV segment to learn more about the program.

What a turn out! Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards. It was an honor to be recognized by the Portland Business Journal as a member of the Million Dollar Club. As a presenting sponsor, we had the opportunity to leave a gift for each attendee. Instead of traditional swag, we partnered with OnPoint Community Credit Union to give each attendee a $25 donation voucher. Guests were invited to donate their vouchers to one of three local organizations: AGE+, Friends of the Children - Portland and Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area.
